I sat in the car outside Spartan Stadium and watched the whole third and fourth quarters and the OT. Didnāt get back to my hotel at DTW until 12:45. My football day was one for the ages. Grad school #7 Washington Huskies battered Michigan State 41-7 and Miami finally broke the UC streak! RedHawks crapping right in the middle of the Bearcatsā kitchen was def the highlight! The Bell is Back, Baby!

Correct me if I am wrong, but after omitting .500 records the last time Miami had a winning OOC record heading into MAC play was ā¦ 2003*.
*Yes, there is still one more OOC game against Delaware State.

Have family full of UC grads including full ride players, their only 2 time captain, UC grads and
sympathizers, have been taking a lot of good natured ribbing the last 16 years or so. Have even had to abandon wearing Redhawks gear when I went because I took too much ribbing. Come Thanksgiving (next get together) Iām going full merch head to toeā¦anybody know where you can get Redhawk undies!? Who knows, might be a while before I can do it again so going full boat!
What a game! Won it on a dang fāin fade. Everybodyās favorite play.
The other thing that stands out is the announcers talking about Chuckās take on the importance of the game to alumni. Said heās been told weād rather beat UC than win the MAC. To me maybe itās a sign he finally gets it. We can and should always win the MAC but thereās more to it and this should always be, along with Bobbies, the biggest game of the year. Longest rivalry and series east of Mississippi.

In Chuckās post game presser he certainly seemed to āgetā the importance of the UC game to Miami alums.
And beating UC in front of SO crowd in Cincinnati canāt hurt recruiting, either!

Iām happy to admit I had this game totally wrong. I have a policy never to bet against Miami, but I may have told several people in my life to load up on UC.
After watching them against Pitt I didnāt think weād be able to hold up against their d line, but with one exception that comes to mind, the pass blocking was great. Brett had time most of the night and that - in addition to the red zone defense - was the difference in the game. So hats of to the o line.
I honestly thought Iād go to my grave never seeing Miami beat UC again and Iām not that old so thank you to this team. Most fun Iāve had at a Miami football game in a very long time. Got to see a UC fan chuck a water bottle in disgust which was quite rewarding.
