Basketball Game 2 Thread: Wright State

I’ll disagree with this. We were behind the 8-ball the whole game. The only difference was Kraft made a bunch of shots in the 1st half and didn’t in the 2nd because Wright St. tightened up on him even more. Kraft is limited though in getting his own shot. I don’t want him taking more than 2 dribbles because he’s an average ballhandler at best and he’s at his best when he can catch and shoot or he can take 1-2 dribbles and use his length to shoot over people after getting downhill. That’s where our guards need to make better decisions when they penetrate to put him in those advantageous situations. That’s why Noel was so good for Wright St. He got the ball where he didn’t have to do too much, 1-2 dribbles into the lane and score if he wasn’t already in a position to shoot right away.

How can one be behind the 8 ball when you are winning?
(Asking for a friend)

Aw, screw it. That friend is me.

As the wise old Mollautt would say, “Fool’s gold shooting.” There was a lot of great shot making, but it didn’t really come out of the flow of the offense. We didn’t control the pace of the game like we did on Monday. Monday, the offense was flowing, we got what we wanted. We didn’t get the same kind of looks yesterday. Helter skelter play, at both ends. Defensively, we seemed to go for every shot fake and jab step Wright St. threw at us. Great shot making usually only lasts for so long if it’s not coming out of the flow of the offense.

And as I type this, Wisconsin beat App State by more than 30. A little level setting needed on our part.

Well said and with excellent nuance as usual.

I appreciate you.

People always say wait until Jan or Feb but the reality is generally when we are good we know it early. I dont ever remember a Miami team that was bad in the pre league and won the league regular season
