Wright State took a drop in the Pomroy rankings after a beatdown by UK. They’ll come to Oxford ranked #225. Noel and Huibregtse are their standouts. There’s a chance they start a true freshman at PG since Norris, the starter so far has been horrid.
Last night they played Ohio Christian and struggled to pull away until the second half.
Wright State has a new coach this season. Clint Sargent has been there for 8 seasons, the last 3 as Associate Head Coach. During those 8 years the Raiders won 5 Horizon championships, counting tournament and regular season separately.
Starters
6-8 RS Jr Brandon Noel He had 20/8 vs Kentucky and18/9 vs Ohio Christian. Seems like he has had similar numbers against us.
6-3 RS SR Alex Huibregte 16 and 22 points so far
6-5 RS Soph Logan Woods
6-0 RS Jr Keaton Norris
6-7 RS Sr Michael Mariagbe
Also 6-2 RS FR Solomon Callaghan had 15 vs UK
Notice that all 6 guys I listed have redshirted. That says a lot about their program. These guys have set out seasons and worked to improve till they got their chance.
Probably reading a bit too much into it. This is the first time since at least 2016 that Miami has been favored against Wright State. Miami hasn’t beaten Wright State in years. Miami has one win against an App State team with a good amount of turnover. WSU has played UK and a non-D1, neither told anyone much about them.
The transfer portal is complicating early season lines.
