22-19 going into this series. Kudos to Larry Scully for what he’s done to improve this pitching staff since February. Five pitchers with an under 5.5 ERA. Team ERA about 6.6…slightly better than oppponents’ ERA.
Another note, this is such a massive improvement

Love the visibility of the Miami hat!
When I was coaching high school baseball 40 to 50 years ago, our coaching “staff” was one or two guys. Pitcher development kind of had the same goals, trying to find a pitch that was successful and controllable and repeatable. How we got there was trial and error and regular throwing.
So I think our goals were basically the same, but none of the technology or mathematical diagnosis. This is a very refined system now.
Miami ties the game up at 3-3 in the top of the 7th after going down early 3-0! Macdonald hit his 17th home run of the season
Update still the 7th: Miami takes a 4-3 lead!
Miami gets the win 4-3! 9 game win streak!
For scoreboard watchers: #2 seed WMU plays #1 BG this weekend. We entered the series in 3rd .5 games behind WMU and 6 games behind BG. Top 2 in the MAC get a bye for the first round of the tournament
Just a complete 180 turn around in one year. This is very impressive.
Bowling green takes down Western Michigan 8-3 so Miami moves into 2nd in the MAC
Yes- coaching change made a big difference. I hope our pitching can continue to hold up.
Article in the Miami Student about the development of the pitching staff
Wake Forest Lite
This (to me) is where the math department (forgive my ignorance if there’s a more precise name, should offer internships for top students by partnering with the baseball team. There’s big money in pro sports doing this.
Edit: is this need the same in softball? I would imagine it would be but I don’t know enough about it to be certain
Upside down 9-0 in the top of 6 today.
You obviously haven’t kept up with the new building on campus
I have been frozen in time stuck in the 1990’s.
That said, I read the article and see no mention of collaborating with sports teams. That was what I was suggesting. Is that happening? If so, terrific. If not, maybe it should be.
The streak is over Miami loses 10-2
Zach MacDonald hits his 18th homer as Miami goes up 6-0 in the 2nd inning of game 3
