#4 ( in Pairwise) St.Cloud vs RedHawks at Goggin this Fri/Sat,12/9-12/10 Hockey

And we make it 4-0 with a power play goal with 3:35 left. A little sloppy this period but looking solid overall

And 5-0 with the ENG!

Apparently St Cloud thought they could come back from a 4 goal deficit by pulling the goalie, but we actually get the empty netter for once. In all fairness, I wouldn’t put it past this team to give up four goals in less than 5 minutes, lol.

Between this and the UND road win we are definitely showing signs of moving back up. Not where we need to be, but making progress.

And big contributions from FRESHMEN! (#3! Kudos)

If the Saturday team plays they are a force to be reckoned with. First period toe to toe; second period took advantage of the opportunity; third period stood strong.

Latest Pairwise - Miami #35 (Assuming tonight’s win included).

I’ll take signs of progress.

It’s only one game, but the most significant and encouraging one in years IMO. I’m happy to see it!

I totally blanked on this thread as I didn’t see any comments about the win last night and found this in the am. Doh! I was like “where is all our support!” Right here.

Ps, I wrote a thread called “we win, we win, we win” but locked it since this one exists. Apologies!

Wow I checked the pairwise for the first time this year. The NCHC is having a bad year. Only 2 in the top 16. Big 10 has 5.

We are 6th best in the league.

But I was expecting us to be in the 20s so when I heard 35 I checked

Very happy to eat CROW after posting Miami can’t seem to compete in the NCHC. Still 2-9-1 since 4-1-1 start.

YES team is better. Still hoping for around .500 season. Be hard to accomplish.

Blanking a top 5 team says something. This wasn’t a lucky squeak. Unless that team is highly depleted and not playing their stars, maybe this is the turn the corner moment? And, even though we lost Friday, that hat trick stood out as a harbinger of good.

St. Cloud had a couple injured players late but were pretty much
at full strength. They thought they were in for an easy win in sat game……

This is pretty encouraging. I don’t think we will be world beaters this year, but by EOY I wouldn’t want to play us.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but we’re still last place in the conference and 5 points behind the second to last place team. We’ve given up twice as many goals in conference play as we’ve scored and have a -20 goal difference (second worst being -5). We’ve pulled upsets against highly ranked teams over the past half decade or so, so it’s not an unprecedented win. The real test will be whether they can continue to play well and prove that it wasn’t just one good night.
