25/26 Other NCAA Basketball

We are not a part of this MTE, but this is the court we are playing our next game on when we travel down to Jacksonville for our weird neutral site game that may or may not be streamed anywhere.

It’s like the Clemson Tiger had a baby with Grimace.

Excellent

Pretty sure we will have the worst strength of schedule by the end of the day (according to kenpom). The 4 teams currently worse than us (Rutgers, Syracuse, Texas, and Seton Hall) all have tough opponents today

Buffalo got a vote in the AP poll.

Here’s what I don’t get about Buffalo: They are 5-0 with a win at DePaul, but their KenPom is 229, and their NET is 340. Do these rankings just hate mid-majors, or does last season have some bearing on these?

I saw that. Somewhat strange.

NET doesn’t start until early December. Buffalo’s 340 ranking is from last year. Kenpom ranking takes into account last year’s results until about late January. It decreases as you get farther into the season (so by January its very little until its nothing at the end)

Interesting. I just noticed this page says rankings are from last year, though records are from this year.

NC State lose 46 left

Tons of vulnerable undefeated teams in action today, but annoyingly they all keep winning.

If, by 12/15/25, the MAC overall stays much the same I believe this could be one of the wildest MAC BB seasons ever, and that’s even with Miami and Akron being at the front of the pack.

Already it looks like Buffalo is waaaay better than expected, Toledo is not as bad as expected and EMU shows signs of being at least as good as last season, if not better. Not to mention BG.

Actually, the only underachiever to this point is Ohio with the jury still out on UMass. No contender that plays Akron/Miami at home can afford to lose that game to threaten them, as road wins will be extremely tough to get.

Looking forward to it.

Yale up 44-31 on the Zippies, closing in on halftime. We’ll see what Steele’s half bro can come up with during the break.

I’m thinking we’re not going to get that livestream on Wednesday.

I saw on X that a Miami account referred to our game as the Riley Decker Showcase, so Miami must be putting it on more or less as that’s Deckers company

if that’s the case, I’m guessing there will be no stream unless Miami is bringing down all their broadcast equipment. It wouldn’t be on the abominable passtheball I wouldn’t think as we are not part of the event.

Syracuse lost 45 left

Down go Oregon 44

Yale beats Akron by 3 to win the Virgin Islands Paradise Jam. So it’s official: Yale has the best virgins in college basketball.

Yale was 21/21 from the foul line.

I don’t think Akron would get an at-large, but that loss probably confirms it. They would have been in a very interesting position if they won that game, the rest of their non-conference slate, and then ripped through the MAC with only 1 or 2 losses before losing to Miami in the finals.

They were flirting with top 50 KenPom before the loss, and Yale on neutral could be a Q1 game end of season. Now they’ll just have the NIT looming after defeat in Cleveland.

LMU puts the L in their name.
