25/26 Other NCAA Basketball

Auburn is the exact opposite of Miami. They play a really hard schedule and never win. We play a really easy schedule and never lose.

Other bubble teams with losses last night include Indiana (Q3 loss vs NW), New Mexico (Q1 loss at Nevada), and USC (Q1 loss at UCLA).

Indiana’s first non Q1 loss and are playing their way towards Dayton (or worse, Vegas) with 3 straight losses. Their last game in Columbus could become a defacto play-in game.

Mtn West bubble teams New Mexico and SDSU are sliding and the MW might be a 2 bid league with USU and whoever wins in Vegas.

USC was 11-0 OOC with 3 wins in Maui and one road game, but have lost 4 straight and have fallen to the wrong side of the bubble.

Your first mistake is thinking UMass has fans. Im from Mass and have two step kids there now. Even the hockey team cant draw and its the one good sport.

Those bitches better win and get out of the 8th spot. I don’t want to face UMASS first in Cleveland. I don’t know how they keep losing these close games. Frank Martin must have let the game pass him by.

Xavier (13-15) loses @ Providence (13-15),

How much did they pay Pitino Jr.? And how foolish would Providence have to be to fire Kim English and hire Richard Pitino Jr.???

OSU loses as well. Have to play Purdue next and if they lose, their final game of the regular season is a playoff of sorts w Indiana to try to stay on the bubble. OSU obviously has a tough schedule, but is 0-10 against quad 1 opponents. If given the chance, I know we would have done better against good competition.

Agree - this is not OSU football and get 10 chances. This is basketball and I think the chances of upsetting at least 1/10 is more realistic in basketball for at least a decent team. Maybe “the” OSU is not a “decent” team. They should not even be considered a bubble team. The system is a joke. Just throwing it out there…

Bottom line - good losses are not wins, but with the NET it seems like they are.

Makes you wonder- would we be in better shape if we were 26-2 with losses to Purdue and Duke instead of wins against UNCA and UNCG?

The numbers could be crunched, but I would guess yes.

I have a hard time understanding why teams like OSU seemingly get “credit” for losing over and over to quad 1 teams.

No we wouldn’t. The MAC is predetermined as a 1 bid league…unless you have an undefeated team that is making national news. Otherwise, with 2 losses no matter the opponent nobody is talking of Miami or any MAC school as an at large team. No chance.

Yeah no one nationally would care about a 26-2 MAC team. 27-1 with a shocking win over Michigan or Duke would be a different story but 26-2 would be “oh yeah they’re a good team but they’re just beating the teams they should beat.”

The easy schedule obviously played to our favor, but we had to do something truly special, which we have so far.

I hate all the talk how the committee can’t reward Miami or it will encourage others or like this was some diabolical plot from Steele. No one plans on going undefeated. It’s literally never happened in the MAC conference schedule (or most 1 bid leagues). No one else is undefeated in conference this year.

It would have been much easier to play and beat a single Q1 than go 31-0

Don’t tell that to precious and delicate “metrics”!

This.

Now watching Akron putting beat down on Kent. Akron is a really impressive team…..gonna need Luke back and some good 3 point shooting to beat these guys methinks.

It’s still bizarre to see ESPN promoting WWE events.

It’s crazy that this Akron team is probably the most dominant MAC team of the last 20 years but the scrappy men of Miami decided to pull out the greatest storybook season of all time on them.

Akron is really good. But they aren’t undefeated.

Super unfortunate for Akron that they had a random stinker against Troy and that Murray St has fallen apart down the stretch. Otherwise they’d be a legit at large team.

To hell with Akron, they’ve melted in every big spot this year

Marshall only had to beat 7-10 Georgia Southern to win a co- champ in the Sun Belt at home. They are losing by 13 with 57 seconds left :man_facepalming:

The Sun Belt is a hilarious conference. 6 way tie for second. The 2 seed needs to win 2 games in conference tournament and 7 seed has to win 5 games due to their crazy bye structure.

Imagine having to play 3! extra games due to tiebreakers.

Just not a serious conference
