2026 Transfer Portal (MIAMI NEWS ONLY)

I would not however discount the loss of Devries and Singer in the portal. Those were 2 players who in 2 years already have their names firmly in the Miami record book. But as I have said, and you concur, Glenn will reload.

his pitch is one thing…his (Miami’s) pocketbook is another

I’m not knowledgeable about the ladies game but it seems clear if there’s a chance to play and make a name for yourself someone around the world will come to MU to do it. Even if there isn’t much NIL. What do top 25 ladies teams spend? Same as men? I have no idea on any of that stuff.

Not surprised at all about this Elmer news. When it comes to incoming transfers, keep an eye on players we recruited and initially missed out on the first go around.

If we cannot make competitive cash offers to Singer and Devries we are in deep brownies!

Women are no different than the men. Offers are made. Players can accept them or not. Both Miami teams will reload and will be fine.

If I had an opinion or any influence I hope the contributing roster looks like this:

Point Guards/Shooting Guards rotating among the four: Ipsaro, Skaljac, Kirby and Anthony Fresch

ā€œShooting Forwards: Atlasson, Stowers, Horton and a Transfer

Center/Power Forward: Robbins, Transfer

Starting Five at the beginning at least

Ipsaro, Skaljac, Atlasson, Stowers and one transfer

In other words, the search for an athletic big man continues. Where’s ā€œSkinsā€ when we need him?

Kirby needs to be in that starting 5 somewhere. He has the best skill set to replace Elmer.

Anyone heard much about how Stowers was in practice this year? I loved his video coming out of high school. A bulldog getting to the rim. 3 level scorer.

He and Waltz may be getting a chance at a lot of minutes next year.

Kirby most definitely starts ahead of Stowers.

Over Stowers? I am just not a fan of playing 3 small guards at the same time, and Skaljac and Ipsaro still deserve to start, unless Ipsaro is still not healthy enough, then Kirby for sure

I like Kirby as a change of pace at the moment but we’ll see. Maybe Stowers not as good as his HS film just yet?

I have no problem supporting our program even if the faces might change. Players still have many choices so they still have to choose us which carries weight.

Also, a lineup of Ipsaro, Skaljac, and Kirby can work in the MAC. Kirby plays bigger than his size and the aggressiveness he already showed bodes well for a big jump next year. Akron played Tavari, Scott, and some combo of Hardman/Young, not exactly the biggest backcourt.

Aside from the fact that Kirby proved himself over the course of 20+ games last year and Stowers is a complete unknown, Kirby is 6’4 and Stowers is 6’5. Not exactly a dramatic difference. Teams start three guards all the time, especially at our level. Plus, with his athleticism, Kirby plays bigger than he is. And if we’re looking for a bigger wing already on the roster I would think Kyle Waltz gets the nod first. Either way, we’re getting ahead of ourselves talking about next years starting lineup.

We have to retain Skaljac and Ipsaro first.

Kirby and Stowers are both listed as G on the roster.

Stowers only has 1 inch and 5 pounds over Kirby.

Kirby has already proved he is one of our best rebounders.

Rebounds per minutes played was just slightly less than Elmer.

At this stage, keeping even a few players will give us a leg up against the numerous teams who don’t return any contributors. It sucks, but until actual transfer rules are set and enforced (likely by an act of Congress) this will only get worse. I’d argue unlimited and unregulated transfers are a way bigger issue than NIL.

They’re both staying. Evan isn’t leaving (ever). Hope that helps ease the pain of Eian (who is a wonderful young man).

Evan said he’s attempting to regain sophomore status. I hope he gets it! The thought of three more seasons with Evan around really warms my heart.
