2026 Football Recruiting

Junior Jake Theis already has a Miami offer.

Chuck has always prioritized Chicagoland recruiting. He is from Park Forest from an Irish Catholic family so he is intimately familiar with the CCL.

TE Brendan Loftus from Loyola Academy.

WR Ryan Sims is also from the CCL. Not sure what happened to him this year. Did not play much. Injured?

I think you can take comfort that Chuck has his meathooks firmly in the CCL when it comes to looking for talent.

Coaching change at Auburn…

We need to kickstart the Confusion Conference. Start with us, Indiana PA, California PA, WashU St. Louis, all of the Loyolas, and build from there.

The Jacksonville in Alabama is welcome.

Yep, and not much playing time either. While listed as playing in 12 games this year for Auburn, Strader only had 9 tackles and 3 passes defended. No INT. At Miami in 2 years he had 110 tackles, 34 passes defended and 3 INT. At Miami 2 time all MAC. You tell me where he is getting better exposure and advancing chances for NFL play. I would tell him to look at Quinyon Mitchell, from Toledo, now with the Eagles.

Quentin Rollins got drafted 2nd round from here. And he only played one year at MU. Anything is possible.

Yes, can’t dispute that. But he only played one year of FB and excelled. And as you point out, that was at Miami, not some school where he didn’t see significant PT.

I think Raion might have more upside. But to be fair, I haven’t seen him play in a while. What he’s experiencing is what happens when you go to schools that stack talent. No different than the 70’s when schools like Pitt had over 100 players on scholarship before limits were set. So many good players never saw daylight. NIL doing the same thing imo. The equation has not really changed even though the sketchy rules have: if you want to play on Sundays you need to have footage from Monday-Saturday. Miami can provide that and for a lot of players, it’s worth more than a few bucks. If the NFL is the goal.

I don’t blame him in the least for cashing in. I don’t blame any of these players for cashing in on the only money they make make playing football. But in my opinion, the best thing for Raion now, is to return to Miami.

I keep seeing this argument that staying at Miami to get more playing time will help your NFL chances. Unless someone has data to support this argument, I am not buying it. Making the NFL is extremely unlikely for any player, whether they stay at Miami or transfer up to P4.

Obviously, we all want them to stay at Miami, but if a kid is getting offered $500k to $1mil to transfer up, that is the biggest no brainer of all time. What an incredible opportunity for these kids to set themselves up financially for the rest of their lives.

We agree to agree

I have made it quite clear, I don’t begrudge them taking the money. Neither does CM. He has been quite clear on this, even discussing specifics. But there are other things to be weighed as well, like in any situation. Longer term goals perhaps being one that should be under consideration. Also, in a situation like Strader, I would say it is highly unlikely a school at this point is going to offer him 500K-1M. So his is a different situation. Where one portalled, took money, but now is portalling again. Perhaps now he is considering other things. I don’t know.

I also don’t know if “portalled” or “portallling” are even words!!

blues is right CM agrees if the money is right. Virgil made $950k and CM thanked him and told him congrats.

Martin just wants these guys to have contracts in hand with big money not promises of an agent

Reggie has a much better chance of making the NFL today than if he was playing with us- but others that arent playing do not. MAC tape is better than no tape I am guessing

Sure, but if you can’t crack the starting lineup at a P4 school, you likely weren’t going to the NFL either way.

In general I agree. But there are circumstances where that isnt true.

Each decision is unique.

So…if you aren’t at a P4 school, yet still make the NFL, does that mean you don’t belong there because you never cracked a P4 lineup?

I mean Woullard left here a great DE and ended up warming the plastic bench at an overhyped P4 school. Can’t really show someone your tape at said overhyped P4 school when your helmet is on the bench
