No bid Sunday means our coach goes to our ârivalâ and takes our team with him - just great. This is my point in the other thread about adapting or dying. Cincy is a Big 12 job now as they adapted.

Nah, the Big 12 isnât going to survive the next realignment. Theyâre geographically dislocated with no natural rivalries

Steele will wait for a better location Clifton is bad area.
I know nothing but having his alma mater job and the only power 4 job open that he doesnât have to move for is not ideal

I read on an X post that he will walk away with some serious money.
Around $9.9 mil I think. I saw one coach mentioned as a target for UC but it wasnât Steele.
Edit: it was Jerrod Calhoun of Utah State who has past UC ties.

New SI article on UCâs top 3 coaching candidates does not include Steele.
NY Timesâ article on Millerâs firing talks about 6 possible replacement candidates, stressing what a perfect fit Calhoun would be w Ohio background and working under Huggins.
Steele is mentioned last, but the commentary noted he was a long shot due to his previous stint at big intra-city rival Xavier. And the likelihood that the UC fan base would not be pleased with that choice.
Gee whillikers! I bet Travis Steele is just DREAMING about what it would be like to be a HC of a sucky over-rated team in metro Cincinnati with an unrealistic fanbase!

Hope so! I donât really think UC really wants Steele nor is it necessarily high on Travisâ list, but it is in the beautiful Queen City which makes me just a little nervous. Carm is probably right that the fit is all bad.
P.S. as a long suffering Miami fan (albeit with some excellent highs from time to time over 50 years!), I am trying to not allow myself to get carried away w the prospect of the new Arena and Steele committing to a new, long term contract that could re-establish our basketball legacy.
P.S. ironically, because of my one time penchant to be a budding HS basketball all star, and my time at Miami hoops summer camps when I was a middle schooler, I originally thought of Miami as a basketball school!
And of when I attended Miami we were awesome in both football and basketball!
