You’re correct. That’s a different Johnson, not Sly Johnson.
But…The good news…6-4-1 three years later including beating UC!
And a tie AT West Virginia (I was there) the first game of the following season. WVU misses a late fg for the win. Vanderjagt with a rare miss.
I was at that WVU game as well, Eddie. Wasn’t that 45 yard FG by Eddie Coy (did I get that name correct ?) to tie the game the only FG he made in his short career at Miami?
Close! Bobby Lee Coy.
Bobby Lee was in there for the field goal attempt instead of Chad Seitz. I forget why but perhaps he was our “long” fg kicker.
Brutal passing stats for Miami. I had forgotten how badly we were outgained in that game…we actually had a double digit lead at one point.
WVU had seven fumbles and lost five of them? Gosh, I was at the game and had no memory of there being that many turnovers.
Of courses, I also can’t remember what I had for breakfast these days.
Yeah, I had forgotten about all those fumbles as well, but I vividly remember their last fumble. We got stopped on our last drive and WVU took over with just a few minutes left.
All they had to do was get maybe one first down to run the clock out and they fumbled at midfield. Miami took over, didn’t move the ball much as I recall, and Coy kicked the tying FG. What a quiet stadium that was.
Lock Beachum was probably the strongest pound for pound player I was ever around. He passed on about 3 years ago and I think his son play for PSU….
Cade McDonald got invited to the Bears and Bengals pro days
