Onions! What a 2nd half.
Iâm in a full sweat - the dog is hiding in the corner from all of my yelling but we are going to the championship baby.
Well, the last time we made the conference title game, we were simply supposed to be the foil for an Akron coronationâŚ
Squirrel Doggy slept through most of it, but heâs also an elderly gentleman terrier and Iâm not sure how well he hears all the time these days.
And again, itâs always a great night when you donât have to turn in your hotel key.
Both games so far have been sloppy shooting wise. Hopefully that means tomorrow we are lights out
Well, the Counting Crows post worked last night, so letâs try it again, in honor of getting to keep the hotel keysâŚ
âAnd itâs one more day up in the canyons
And itâs one more night in Hollywoodâ
Thatâs a sign of progress. Earlier in the season, Miami couldnât have won a game against a good team on a mediocre-to-bad shooting night. Theyâve gotten better on defense and on the boards, so they can keep themselves in games until the shots fall. Akron didnât see this version of Miami.
As that regular season game in Akron was getting worse and worse, I thought, âMaybe this ass-kicking is what the team will need to be ready for Cleveland.â
Well, 2 months later, weâre getting another shot.
We wonât heat zips
Atta boy
Weâre going to cool them into a deep sleep. Not heat them.
Get on my back, friend. Itâs time to get to the show.
You also said you werenât confident that weâd beat EMU and that weâd be lucky to beat Kent.
The year after I gradutated we lost to Kent and Al Fisher (MAC POY that year) in the MAC semis. I was there, and several rows in front of me was Mr. Pollitz, who had tears in his eyes becuase Timâs Miami career was done (Eric had another year I thnk). I walked up to him, also with tears in my eyes, and said how much fun I had watching Tim and Eric over my 4 years in Oxford.
17 years later, we beat Kent in MAC semis to complete a 3 game sweep on the season (!). Even though we have more work to do, this is very cathartic for me and if Tim and Eric are watching, I hope it brought them a lot of joy as well.
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Great team effort - great coaching- yes Craft was the âManâ but so was Suder- Potter certainly improving every game but if he would only learn how to use the glass - his soft misses off the back rim âŚMost importantly this group plays as a team in every respect- lets get to the " Dance "!
The team will celebrate the MAC title tomorrow with a cardboard cutout of a naked @Theman in the locker room. Itâs going to rule.
Your TV appearance sparked the closing run.
I took that loss harder than probably any other Miami basketball loss. Later the night I distinctly remember thinking, âEh, maybe hockey will win the national title in a few weeks.â Seriously, at that moment, those two things were on the same level for me, which sounds ludicrous now but at the time, thatâs where my mind went.
And that heavyweight fight was really the title game that year because that Kent team rolled Akron the next night.
