I thought Weaver would stay. I heard we offered Trick a lot of money, but he declined. Hopefully we can get Perry to stay. I am guessing the # of completions over the last two games isn’t too enticing

Here is the reality. Once a player has a year of tape, be it having played a full year as a freshman, or like in Weaver’s case, partially played freshman, then full year soph, they are going to enter the portal.
Iowa State only has 17 players left on their roster.
Given that they just lost their head coach I’m not sure this is the best example to use.
in todays landscape, maybe. But to my knowledge teams didn’t immediately turn over 80% of a roster when a coach left pre portal/NIL

Per a recent NYT article: “In total, 60.3 percent (362 of 600) of [the class of 2021] players examined transferred at least once. Of that group, a third (33.4 percent) transferred multiple times.”
I still say let them transfer once without having to sit out a year. After that, any other transfers you sit out a year.

I get it, the portal is getting out of control. I just don’t think using examples where the coach just left is the best way to support that argument.
He’d have gotten a legit NFL shot if he stayed here. Hopefully he like Canada

I don’t care if they lost their coach this is effin’ absurd. What is right about having a great/fantastic/unbelievable season and your reward or price of success is a bunch of billionaire schools come poaching EVERY STARTER that got you there? There’s not any bones left to pick. JMU has to feel devastated. What a gut punch.
