He was 6th in Walter Payton award voting (best offensive player in FCS)
Crazy that 1800 rushing yards was third in the FCS
Great get! A lot of people hating on the haul because there arenāt any big splashes. But, most of our gets so far are guys that have produced good numbers in G5 or FCS.
Personally Iād rather have guys who produced in g5 or FCS than p4 bench warmers but a good mix is also good
He also had 30 receptionsā¦
Massive signing. And itās clear these kids are getting paid. Fantastic transfer portal pickups thus far. Would just like some WRās.
Kids I know in FCS can absolutely ball. Typically a bit undersized or just need some more development. I do think we have talent at QB, but it would be nice if there was a transfer with some experience and absolutely some receivers. Otherwise, have certainly replenished what was lost. Excited about the incoming players!
I believe receivers are coming soon. We have had visits from an Ohio state and UNC WR

Former Redhawk luke Evans commits to kennesaw state
Good luck to Luke
I commented 5 days ago, I like looking to the FCS level. There are very good players there. Players that can easily play at the G6 level. I credit our staff for not just looking at the P4 bench player transfers, who also can contribute. No negatives about them either. Just that we should continue to cast a wide net when looking to fill our roster, and not complain if a player is from FCS and not FBS.
All depends on how quick and fast Nelson is as he is only 5-8 so not likely an up the middle runner. Showed he can catch passes as well. Could be very effective on jet sweeps and other plays where his elusiveness and speed are paramount.
Fair points, but it is up to a good staff to identify talent, obtain talent, and then utilize said talent to maximize the talentās abilities and maximize the effect they can have on the field/court. I am sure, if our staff is creative enough, they can find ways to maximize someone who rushed for 1800 yards and caught 30 plus passes, even if he is only 5ā8". We have had backs of this size before who did very well. We just signed a RB/WR even smaller than this from the Pittsburgh area. Example of a staff turning a program with 0 5 star recruits, and a roster loaded with 3 star recruits into a national powerhouse: Curt Cignetti.
And now Cignetti is turning that success (and the money it has and will generate) into a monster portal class so far. And no I am not comparing Miamiās situation to a B10 school. That is not the point I am trying to make.
Our āstaffā and ācreativeā in the same sentence is an oxymoron.
I just watched them get their asses handed to them by Western Michigan - and I donāt mean by 10 points.
Meet Rodney Nelson, RB, Miami University. If our staff canāt get production out of this player, I wouldnāt just fault the player.
He is listed at 5ā8ā, 195 pounds. Looks well built.
Barry Sanders played at 5ā8ā, 197 pounds. He did ok.
We donāt need a Hall of Famer. We could use some diversity in the backfield for next year and this kid looks like he provides that and possibly much more. I like what I see.
Absolutely loving the strategy this year! Go out and chase these top tier FCS players, weāve seen time and time again how well they transfer
