Did you go to classes over winter break or something?
Of course not, silly. Winter break was for undergraduate research projects and writing apps for nationally competitive scholarships.
(shrugs) I always cut, split, and sold firewood over Winter break.
That would have required living some place with trees, and the Homeland was essentially Baja Bowling Green.

Gardner Webb WR - 917 yards and 4TDs last season
By my count between the portal and graduation we have (so far) lost 5 starters on offense and 9 starters on defense. We will essentially be starting completely over on D next year.
Another year of excuses coming up about being a new team. We have lost more people than I thought we would to be honest. I didnt think Terrell or Weaver or Yarborough or Beasley were much more than good MAC players
And I am sure we will get some players but last year was a pretty big whiff in the portal to be honest
Agree but a couple highly touted WR we picked up also got hurt before the season
I donāt think those excuses will fly in the brave new world of everyone transferring every year.
I donāt think guys like Beasley + Yarbrough are transferring up.
Agreed. But are these dudes just transferring to transfer? Beasley just got here. Or are the coaches telling them to take a hike?
Not sure, but I do think CM is pretty transparent with guys about where they fit into future plans. In addition, nowadays if a player is being offered nominal or no NIL, they can probably read the tea leaves for themselves.
I think the vast majority of kids are getting advice from A: that one weird uncle twice removed, or B: a nasty lawyer looking to exploit the kid for money.
And CM will mention that every press conference all year, as though we are the only ones going through this.
Reminds me of a MAD Magazine poll from back in the 70s āBack to Campusā edition:
Star college athletes are seldom seen:
a.) Breaking curfew;
b.) Smoking cigarettes, or;
c.) In class
This new transactional era has made me not love college football as much. Iām not sure I can continue to bring the same passion for Miami football Iāve had for it since 1964. Having 20 or more one to two year mercenaries on the squad every season has curbed my enthusiasm considerably. Watching Finn mail it in during the Ohio game and then either quit or get kicked off the team before the Toledo game left a very sour taste in my mouth.
Seeing several of our solid starters voluntarily boycott our bowl game added more fuel to my discontent. Seeing several more star players who were given the opportunity to play for Miami enter the transfer today only adds to my feeling of negativity.
The lack of continuity from one season to the next - and even from the start of the season to the end of it - makes it hard to stay engaged. Realizing that current students are involuntarily funding this system adds to my negativity and growing disinterest. Is anyone else having similar feelings?
