Why would the U Mass announcement for 2025 affect the 2024 schedule? If the MAC is going to update the pods why wouldn’t they wait and do it later?
It only has to do with messaging. Generally speaking a communications department times releases so one doesn’t step on another. There is nothing about the UMass announcement that impacts the ‘24 schedule. It’s probably just a PR timing situation.
Ok, MAC. The UMass announcement is now cold news. It’s past time to announce the 1924 Conference schedule! We need to start some travel planning. Let’s go!
There are apparently a couple of conflicts that still need to be worked out. One that was mentioned was that WM is scheduled for both a MAC game and a game vs Marshall on the same date.
Are we going to travel back in time to watch these games on the “1924 Conference schedule”? ![]()
(P.S. Not a good season for Miami, we went 2-6. Lost to UC 8-7 in a barnburner offensive display!)
I’m ready!!
Good catch. I told someone yesterday that a photo was five years old - from 2029.
How has that not been resolved six months out? Good grief! So Marshall is still messing up the MAC?
The schedule will be released today so any issues have been figured out now:
As documented by Blues.
Ah, those weren’t the good old days.
11-1 if Gabbert starts game 1
And no injuries for team or for him…
Ten G5 teams that can make the playoff
- Miami (Ohio): Chuck Martin’s RedHawks rode an absurdly effective defense to last year’s MAC title, and a majority of key defenders return, including star end Brian Ugwu. Veteran QB Brett Gabbert is still around to pilot the offense, and Miami has a lovely nonconference slate (Northwestern, Cincinnati, Notre Dame) for making some noise.
USA Today posted their CFB ranking today. We came in at 61, and the 3rd team in the MAC behind Toledo at 38 and OU at 58.
Edit: the image of the list won’t format properly to the site. To be fair, it is a large image, containing 134 teams. So just use the link to to the article, it’s in there.
These dumb lists. We wax both and here we are. Silly.
How are we behind OU after we cleaned their clock in Athens, we have (on paper) a better returning roster, and we have them at home?
On the plus side, based on these rankings, we’ll nearly reach bowl eligibility simply by playing the 5 teams on our schedule ranked 110 and lower.
ESPN+ MAC preview for those who have it. We’re listed as the frontrunner in SP+ with three of our games listed in the top five MAC games of the season (Toledo, NIU, and BG).
Quite possibly the most thorough, fair and insightful analysis from a national media source I have read about MAC football prospects.
