If I’m betting those, I think I take the under on Ohio and maybe the over on NIU.
Notre Dame is generally overrated.
Miami one of five undervalued teams…
So true!
Interesting Notre Dame trivia:
Per Greg McElroy, Notre Dame has an odd tradition of head coaches winning a National Championship in their third year. It seems Leahy, Parseghian, Devine, Holtz and Kelly all did it.
Although this is Marcus Freeman’s third year, McElroy doesn’t think the tradition will continue this year.
Chip Kelly went to the title game but he lost it.
I think I missed Brian Kelly’s national championship win unless they count “murdering students” as a title. They might.
Chip Kelly coached at Oregon and UCLA, not Notre Dame. That was Brian.
Maybe McElroy meant “got to the title game.”
Typos aside, he still lost.
Chip Kelly also lost in the title game. To Auburn.
Yep. Just not for Notre Dame.
Also, I don’t believe Chip Kelly killed a student, but I could be mistaken.
Technically no ND coach had won the national title game in his 3rd year… or any other year. All of the other ND coaches won mythical national titles (without winning the designated title game). Kelly is the only one to technically coach in a championship game… and Alabama treated ND like a bad FCS team that night.
2.5 Redhawks included on Phil Steele’s pre season All Americans
Bevelheimer - 1st Team (Nicholson also 1st team)
Salopek - 3rd team
Fwiw, UC picked to finish 14th of 16 in the Big XII.
On Tuesday, Andy Staples said on his On3 broadcast that Miami would be the G5 rep to the CFP if it can go 3-1 in OOC and run the MAC.
I guess the caveat would be if that one loss was to UMass.
He actually said “they (Miami) play Northwestern, Cincinnati and Notre Dame. If they only win one of those games, but then run the table in the MAC, they’re going to be in.”
So he thinks we will make the playoffs with 2 losses. Which is pretty wild considering Cincinnati is the 14th best team in the Big 12.
