Re the can’t-miss investments…new issues (stocks) were hot in the late 70s and early 80s. Every new issue seemed to be a “can’t-miss.” Most missed. Some exceptions, including a start-up computer company that seemed just like the others. It was called Apple.
5-0 weekend to move to 8-2 on the season. Huge tournament coming up next weekend out west with two games apiece against Stanford and Cal and a game against Villanova.

My son and his fiancé - living in SF - are hoping to attend one of the games against Stanford. Although the kid’s a Hamilton College alum, he’s always bled Red and White - used to pretend he was Ryne Robinson when he was little when we played nerf football in his playroom. His first Miami football game was actually in his mom’s belly at Indiana in ‘92. First one after birth was the big Miami win in ‘97 at Army. He knew Charlie Coles and Devin Davis from the Las Vegas Bowl weekend’s basketball series. Went with me to the St.Petersburg Bowl in 2016.
Well, the trip to the Bay Area has certainly put a new perspective on where we are in terms on national competitiveness. We went toe to toe with a nearly top 25 Cal team but weren’t even in the same softball universe as Stanford. Kudos to coach Kumar for scheduling the best teams possible. It can only make us better in the overall competitive process from both a recruiting and performance perspective.
Miami’s schedule is daunting in another way. We only play at home twice in the first 23 games. One of the home games was the hastily scheduled one with Purdue Fort Wayne.
After a home game this Wednesday against Butler we’re back on the road for seven more games - at WKU, Notre Dame and at Ohio to launch the MAC season.

Doubleheader at WKU on Saturday 3/11 (2:00 PM & 4:00 PM) and Sunday 3/12 (1:00 PM)
Won two out of three on the road against WKU, which is perennially one of the top mid majors. Conference play starts on the road in Athens next weekend.
Run ruled at Notre Dame today - 11-3.
The wheels seem to be coming off our softball team’s season…four straight losses including a three-game sweep at home by NIU. Decent pitching but the bats have gone silent.
Toledo beat Miami 2-0 today.
Miami swept a DH from Toledo yesterday. In the 3 game series, Bri Pratt pitched 18 of the 19 innings.
Play at WMU this weekend…2:00 PM Saturday and Noon / 2:00 PM DH on Sunday.

Saturday game canceled due to weather. Split DH Sunday. Now 17-14. Going to have to win the MAC tournament to get a bid this year for certain. Louisville and Oklahoma heading to Oxford mid April.
By the way, the Softball standing aren’t available on the MAC site. Go figure!
