Whatever was spent on the new scoreboard could have been used to buyout Hendrix.
The entire thing is brand new. So not just wider, but I believe the resolution is much improved. Will be nice when they show the spinning Miami icon while the play is under review. (Is it still a MAC rule that they don’t show replays of plays while they’re under review?)
Each sport has been doing their own facility fundraising. I don’t think a contribution marked for football can be used for basketball.
Obviously you’re not familiar with creative accounting.
New/bigger scoreboards always end up paying for themselves because there is more room and opportunities for ads. All while improving in-stadium experience. This was long overdue.
I’m surprised Millett still has the tiny square that only lists player stats during play.
Didn’t we buy the Millet board used on First Dibs or something?
Craigslist.
I would expect Millett to have a new video board next season. There are some things you want to wait until after a renovation is done, but I think a video board is something you can buy now and you can move it if needed after a reno.
The most recent post by Miami football showed Kopp taking a snap and Brett working with the offense. Anyone know who else is getting reps at QB?
Both Humphreys and Aveon Smith also taking snaps. Not to be overly cruel or nasty, in my mind, Smith getting reps is a waste of time at the QB position. WR/RB, ok. QB–I saw enough last year to have this opinion.
Agree. Unless we plan to use a two QB hybrid system of some sort part of the time. To me he seems a lot like Sherman Smith - easily converted to a RB. We’ve got seven or eight pro-style QB in the room. Use em or lose em.
Exactly. We will know coming out of spring who stays and who goes.
It will be interesting to see the fallout. I think most of us sat and watched Smith throw brick after brick between a few rain bringing high archers and wonder WTF? What is he doing in practice every day that we don’t see that makes him so promising that they won’t yank him in a game no matter how bad we think he looks.
5-4 record, including a P5 win. Toughness, intelligence, leadership, NOT TURNING IT OVER, excellent runner.
I hear ya Dick and mostly don’t disagree, but his passing inaccuracy could’ve very well resulted in quite a few more interceptions…I seem to recall at least 2-3 that went right to defenders who dropped em.
A P5 win over one of the worst teams in the FBS. He’s a gamer, for sure and a Miami tough player. But he’s not a championship caliber FBS QB. He’s a RB like Sherman Smith.
Agree Nesca. I’d vote for him in a slot back role. He is a great open field runner, so get him the ball just beyond the LoS and a little wider and let him run
He should be used in a swiss army knife fashion like Cordarrelle Patterson.
Codarrelle is about 6-2 225 and Aveon is about 6-1 215-220.
And…Sherman was about 6-4 225 (as a pro). And…The best thing…We were 39-4-1 during his career.
Note: I am done editing. Three is enough.
Men’s swimming just won its third straight MAC title.
And we’re no slouch at eSports apparently.
