The MAC website is so outdated - worse than most D3 conferences. Sad!
Swept the DH today at AkronâŚplay tomorrow and Sunday.
Beat Akron on Saturday 4 - 0 and Sunday 20 - 3. As a side note, Akron revealed a rebranding of their school logos:
Last regular season series at home against Ball State starting Thursday 5/19/22. Ball State is currently 2nd in the conference a half a game behind CMU for first.
Miami is currently in 5th place with a 18-18 conference record. Ohio is in 4th with an 18-14 record and it appears those 4 games are not being rescheduled. As mentioned in an earlier post, it appears at least the top 6 teams make the MAC tournament.
I thought the Sabo hire was going to make the Zippers into a force but it hasnât turned out that way.
Akron just gave Malibu Stacey a new hat. For those âyoungstersâ on this here site. This is what the hat reference is in reference to
I believe Akron is playing with way fewer and maybe zero scholarships. They actually cancelled baseball at one time and brought it back
Pretty much everyone who has had contact with Sabo thinks heâs kind of a jerk.
That would make sense. Even if the coach is a jerk, he no doubt knows baseball. I met him a few times over the years and he seemed like a lot of pro athletes to me. Kind of aloof, but otherwise harmless.
Dropped first game to Ball State yesterday 4-7.
Play DH today (1:00 PM & 4:00 PM) and one Saturday 1:00 PM.
MAC Tournament is 4 teams.
Thatâs a wrap!
Miami pitching gave up double digit runs in a whopping 15 of their games this season. They finished 23-33. Finding an ace and a couple of solid Saturday and Sunday arms should be job one on the recruiting trail. Would be nice to find another unicorn like Ssm Bachman!
Iâm late to this one. Why is the MAC tournament only four teams (out of eleven)? Do they hate sports or something?
It could be money related or it could be that baseball is a more random outcome sport and they felt 4 was the right number to guarantee a deserving champion.
MLB has traditionally had the smallest % in the playoffs too
Itâs money related but only had 6 prior to being eliminated along with 7 other MAC tournaments beginning in 2020-2021. After pressure the tournaments were reinstated for 2021-22 but with smaller fields.
Jonathan Brand to the Red Sox in the eighth round. Committed to transfer to Auburn.
Our pitching staff really struggled last season even with Brand on the roster. Iâm guessing baseball isnât going to be any different than football in that our best ones are going to get âcalled up to the showâ and the guys struggling up there will be âsent downâ.
Baseball facilities are first rate. Record has not been. I hope they improve.
I think he would be draft eligible again next year if he wanted to stay on his path to Auburn and possibly improve his stock. His slot value was $173k. Moving up to say round 4 would be a $300k increase.
The question would be how many years he has left in college, if he could play 2 at Auburn he could definitely improve his draft stock and command a larger signing bonus. However, if just 1 year, heâd have very little leverage during next yearâs draft, and would likely have to sign for less-than-slot.
Weâve had 2 All Americans the last two years and our record hasnât been great. A real bummer since the odds of that happening are so rare. Wish weâd gotten more out of it.
