Presumably an April Fools Joke! Gotcha!
But maybe it is real. Or not.
=>If this is an april first joke, it is a really stupid one. It is an admission that we can’t do this at Miami someday.
Agreed. The picture doesn’t even match how the surrounding buildings are currently.
=> If it is not in april first joke, it is still poor to announce it on today where nobody’s sure if it’s legit.
I’m sure its an April 1st joke, but not cool then. Because the photo looks awesome in my opnion.
Unless the joke is “April Fools, it’s actually going to be BIGGER”
There is literally a wink emoji in the tweet
It’s obviously an April Fools joke, but agreed it’s not a good one since it actually looks awesome and not totally out of the realm of possibility for a college stadium in general. They should have made it completely ridiculous, with a couple more levels and a colossal statue of Swoop bestride the entrance, a Bellagio-style fountain, etc.
The site will be on the green between the Sundial and McCracken Hall.
They should have just said “we’re cutting football unless Chuck finishes this season undefeated.”
Then the illusion between real and fake is harder to discern.
They should have said it’s being moved to Cook field!
Joke or not, I hope DS keeps this posted on his office bulletin board and makes copies for both the football team, coaches and Trustees as proof of what we are capable of doing as we move forward…
I recall the multi-year “tease” of Yager and at least one very futuristic rendering that floated around the Miami circuit.
While I’m typing, this is the look we need for the ACC to think even more positively of us.
The day I have enough cash to build a new Yager, there will 100% be a Bellagio-style fountain.
BG posted essentially the same thing so it’s apparently the in thing for 2026.
That said if they ever tear down the west stands this is exactly what the facade should look like.
Tied to Xerox stock. Bowl-shaped stadium. I can probably find a pic in the digital Miami Student archives.
I had stock in some very dubious Web 1.0 companies. I sorta wish I’d held the paper as even though they are worthless they would be great comedy framed on a wall.
The fact anyone believed this on April 1st…damn
They could have put up a picture of the world’s largest rotisserie chicken and said “we sold Swoop to Costco to fund the NIL” and I’d have been more into it.
At least we now know what happened to the old Swoop. I thought he was in the Knolls.
