Buffalo has taken advantage of the opportunity, something we failed to do. The Bills have reached the semifinals and play Cleveland State at Buffalo on Wednesday night at 6:00 on ESPN+. Illinois State is hosting Troy in the other semifinal. Winners play Saturday afternoon at 3:00 on CBSSN, home site to be determined. This is a great opportunity for Buffalo to win an NIT championship.
Buffalo defeated Cleveland State 74-69 before a big, rowdy crowd. They are optimistic about getting the championship game at home Saturday afternoon at 3:00 on CBSSN. Toledo is the only previous MAC school to win a WNIT championship, but other teams have made deep runs.
Troy beat Illinois State 99 to 96. The championship game will be played in Buffalo on Saturday at a new time of 5:00 on CBSSN. Great support from the Buffalo fans and administration to get both the semifinals and championship games at home. When Toledo won the WNIT they also played those games at home.
The Women’s MAC Sun Belt Championship game.
But the MAC women already won that. I guess this would be like a regular season championship vs the post season championship.
This is such an unusual coincidence that I had to post it. In the first game of the season Buffalo hosted Troy in the MAC Sunbelt challenge and won 80 to 78. Now they are playing the final game of the year in the same venue for the WNIT championship.
Coincidence or extra-terrestrial involvement?
More strange goings on: In the men’s Big Dance, the only other time all four #1 seeds made the final four was 2008. That final four took place in San Antonio on the exact same dates of April as this year’s tournament.
