I was told on good authority the only reason Marshall is named Marshall is because DeVry was already taken.
Yep. You quite obviously haven’t had the playing in Huntington experience.
Too lazy and not worth it to write a book or even a treatise. However, I penned you a Haiku. I hope you like it.
Ou smells like shit.
Like a toilet at the fair.
I need some febreeze.
Not sure if that is right – Trent is still alive, went to Duke and is playing for Toronto. Brandon Hunter played for OU.
Carm, the kid playing for Toronto is Gary’s son.
UC first and then Marshall. Hated, but respected Marshall and wish they were still in the MAC. Ohio was horrible when I was at Miami so was totally irrelevant. Felt sorry for them.
OU all day.
Marshall made the MAC feel more big time in the late 90’s. Loved the crowd they brought in ‘97 when we whooped Randy. Me and some buddies road-tripped to Marshall for the game in ‘98. Electric atmosphere. Marshall won, but it felt like a big time college atmosphere.
Dustin Ford cussing at me and my friends each year in the student section for basketball helped feed my disdain of OU. He typically backed up his trashtalk with 8 turnovers and a L for the Bobcats.
Well written, well said.
Which one are we playing next?
That would be the #1 on my list.
Ahhhh, that makes sense. Is Trent Sr. still alive? Anyone know?
Google is your friend.
Cincy, OU and then Marshall.
Perfect. 1000%
Good football recruiting ploy! ( topless car wash),for the Thundering Terds!
My favorite Huntington fact was when ( I think it was in the USA today many years ago) a study showed that the population of Huntington had the worst dental health in America.
I’m glad I started this thread.
Marshall!
For those too young or who do not remember Marshall re-entered the conference in 1997 and with them divisonal play. They went on to win the east every year until 2003. We finished second virtually every year as a result of losing to them.
As great as the 2003 team was we would not even have played in the MAC championship game had we not broken a five year losing streak by beating them on November 12th. I still maintain that is the most important victory of my Miami experience!
In and of itself that just makes them a rival like UC or OU. What makes me hate them is the behavior of their fans and the ethics of the program itself.
I have attended a high percentage of our high profile away games and always scalp a good seat in the home team section close to the 50 yard line. In order not to have a problem I always go early and make it a point to say to anyone seated near me what a great experience visiting has been and what great fans they are. I try to compliment their team and suggest that we don’t stand much of a chance(even if i think otherwise).
I have NEVER had a problem outside of the state of West Virginia where I have had two altercations, one of which turned physical.
Marshall also has a pattern running through different coaching staffs and multiple athletic administrators of commiting substantial recruiting violations. The boosters responsible were still allowed to have access to the program. Violations by rougue coaches can happen anywhere. But, few universities turn such a blind eye to ongoing cultural cheating.
I hate Marshall! If they are competing in tiddlywinks on ESPN 8 I am their opponents biggest fan! I do not wish to see them on our schedule in the future in spite of the geographic and financial logic of such a matchup.
Damn, I just ralized how long my post was. Sorry about that but I had to get it off my chest.
I went to the Myrtle Beach Bowl last year, wore my Miami sweatshirt and a Washington Husky hat, sat in the UConn Husky section and rooted against Marshall.
