My second place was IU, I preferred MU/Oxford’s smaller size and got a much better financial aid offer. Would’ve had Mizzou in-state as a safety school if both fell through.
If I remember correctly I only applied to Miami and Ohio State

My youngest son will be a Miami frosh next year. Only place he ever applied.

Only applied to Miami. Once I stepped on campus on a dreary November day my senior year, there was no changing my mind.

Only applied to Miami. Did not schedule any other visits after I visited Miami. Had already visited Georgetown and had a well placed alum (UG and Law school) offering to help me get scholarships. Considered Case Western Reserve.
UC, Maine, Hanover.
Only applied to Miami. Same with my best friend and roommate for all four years.
Case Western, Rochester, and NDSU
Davidson, Swarthmore, and Notre Dame. Parents having saved enough for in-state tuition meant a lot.
Georgetown and the other Miami. I made the right choice.

3 kids: oldest went to UC, then Masters at Miami; middle UG at Miami and wraps up Masters at Miami next month; youngest graduates from Miami next month.
Was a dead heat right until the end between Miami and The Merchant Marines. Growing up canoeing on the Miami and Little Miami, I think I got an inflated sense of my sailing abilities and ultimately made the right call.
I always appreciated Mojo Nixon’s answer to this question. Miami, he explained, was the furthest college away from his hometown that accepted him.
Ohio State, they admitted me to their honors program w/o applying. I knew they must be a mess.
