I thought I had read on here about MBB playing in a tournament in Vegas? Anyone know the date or any details?
No MBB this year; 9 non-conference games have been scheduled, still looking for the last non-conference game

Feb SBC Challange
D-Days list doesn’t align with a few things Travis said last year.
First, we were told there would be a one off game in Vegas. Second, we were told that at least one HM (maybe Houston?) had agreed to buy us. Maybe one of those is the TBD @ neutral site but I read that to be a third game as part of a tournament with High Point.
Also, it looks like, even with a 22 game conference schedule that we’re missing a game in there.
Those are the 8 OOC games currently confirmed. The 9th and 10th are still TBD but I don’t believe the Vegas MTE (World Classic) is happening for Miami this year. The D1 Docket: MAC Dockets
Has not sound positive that we will have a P5 buy game either once again this season. Rumor was perhaps playing Univ Illinois Chicago and one other team to fill in the schedule. Otherwise, the schedule is done in terms of teams just some dates and locations to finalize.

There is no Vegas, and Houston won’t play us.
The staff is trying to get a power school to play us to fill the last spot, but it is doubtful

Considering Wright and the additional SBC is home, definitely a schedule we can win every game again. HP will be a real challenge, but we really should win all the others. Will be fun discourse if we go undefeated non-conference again without a power school, but at least High Point is a top quality MM.
Travis said, damn near verbatim, on one of Field of 68 calls: “Kelvin did us a favor and agreed to play us next season. He’s not scared to play anyone.”

As Hoophawk30’s rumor speculated, the 9th game that I had listed as undisclosed is Illinois Chicago with date & location to be determined.
UIC is of the hardest places to play in Chicago…if you’re a lawyer (the arena hosts the Illinois bar exam pretty often). I would be ecstatic if we played there, and I imagine we’d get a much better visiting crowd than our last game at DePaul.
High Point is loaded again. Big time portal additions and couple key returning players. That will be tough one especially if Ipsaro is not yet back to full go and/or has minutes restrictions during OOC. Agree with outlook on rest of OOC slate and our chances. Should be another exciting season.
I know this is a scheduling thread, but I have to ask- how good do you all expect us to be next season? I think we’ll be a top 3 MAC team, but I keep hearing talk like there will not be much of a drop-off and that we “didn’t lose that much” compared to other teams. Suder and Woolfolk have graduated, and it doesn’t appear either will return even with an extra year of eligibility granted. Elmer, Byers, and Perry have transferred. Considering how well Trey was playing at the end of the year, that’s 4 starters and 5 major pieces gone.
I love Ipsaro, but we don’t know how close to 100% he’ll be. Skaljac, Kirby, and Altason will be major returning contributors. I think Waltz will take a big step with more playing time. Are our freshmen and transfers projected to be that good? I’m not trying to be negative; I just want your guys’ thoughts and opinions. I know nothing can be fully predicted, but many of you know this game well and know what to look for. Thanks in advance!
Not as good as the greatest year in program history where we went 31-0 and then beat an ACC team (obviously), but given the schedule, we should be favorites in 8-9 of our non-conf games (definitely will be dogs to HP and depends how good UIC is if we are playing in Chicago) and big favorites in many of them. We should be favorites in 16-20 of the 22 MAC games (hard to predict with how fluid rosters are but hard to think we aren’t a top MAC team). Assuming unlike last year we lose some games we are favored but maybe win some we aren’t, I don’t think a 24 or 25 win season is unrealistic.
To me, it isn’t that we didn’t lose much compared to other teams (we lost one of the best players in program history, two other all-MAC caliber players, and our defensive lynchpin), its that despite those huge losses, we return so much more than any other program (two all-MAC caliber guards if Ip is healthy, as well as two solid contributors in Atlason and Kirby). While in past decades that might not be enough returning core, in the current MAC, no other team returns near that. Akron returns 1 player that played 12+ mpg with a new coach for example.
