USHL Team to Middletown

This could be very beneficial to the hockey program here at Miami. Having a team in the top league we recruit out of within an 30 minute drive of campus would be huge for us. I hope this deal comes through.

I said for years, Dayton needed to put an ice arena downtown on the site of the old Patterson Co-Op High School. They could have built a really nice facility and used eminent domain to get rid of older buildings.

Nope. Used it to build a second CareSource building. I don’t know how many employees from CareSource actually come to the office to work anymore.

What could have been. There’s such a demand for ice around Dayton, it’s sad

Kettering rec and Troy Hobart are the only ice in the Dayton area, correct?

Things don’t change in Dayton. They were awarded a WHA franchise in the early 70’s but they built a convention center instead of an arena. The franchise was moved to Houston but they kept the name, Aeros

Yes. There’s ice in Springboro but not

Kettering is looking to update and fix their ice rink but it’s not much

Wright State mothballed their ice equipment so long ago that it’s supposedly hopeless now.

There is a ten year old “Chiller” ice facility in downtown Springfield. It is very nice, but not built as an arena, just a community ice rink.

If they get a USHL team in Middletown we had better have that on lockdown. Build fortifications to keep OSU out.

Memories of watching the IHL Dayton Gems play the Fort Wayne Comets and Port Huron Flags in Hara back in the late 60s! In the days of the diminutive Guy Trottier!

Saw "Heavy Medal Sunday the summer of 1980 Def Leopard ( 1st US tour) Scorpions and Judas Preist at Hara.

Great memory

I asked a friend of mine who used to date Grace Slick a few years back to do me a favor. In their song “We built this city” they have a lyric: “someone’s always playing corporation games” and I’ve always believed they were insinuating off- site team building activities such as trust falls or the like, so I asked him to confirm it. He refused. Told me it was a farce. Ha. So is building a city on rock and roll instead of sound governance and a good economy. Some people.
