UNLV has been picked to finish 2nd in the Mountain West, receiving several 1st place votes. This will be a tough game for the Hawks.
They also recently moved their game vs. Idaho State to be in Week 0, meaning now both UNLV and Miami have byes before the showdown. Prior to this move, Miami had the advantage of having a bye while UNLV played the week prior.
UNLV’s former coach from last season is now the HC at Purdue.

This is our best chance since Roethlisberger to be relevant on the national stage and maybe our last chance to make the CFP.
I have my doubts how long this spot for the also-rans will exist, and question if the Big Ten and SEC remain in the same division of competition as us long term.
Lots of questions with a new QB coming over an injury season, but his past MAC results speak for themselves.
2 tough but winnable Big Ten games (most project both under .500 in the conference, but both will still be sizeable favorites over us) and a feisty, good UNLV team. I believe we can shock UW and then execute against Rutgers and have a real shot at 4-0, but we can’t come out rusty with training wheels like we did with Brett @ NW last year. Even drinking all that Kool-Aid, if we don’t play our game, we could easily be starring at a disappointing 1-3 going into the MAC season.

I’m planning on being at the UNLV game, but really want to know what time is kickoff. If it’s 12p, that’s gonna be a way different set of logistics than a 3pm kick!

Just realized that we’re getting a 2016 St. Pete Bowl head coach rematch Something tells me that when Dan Mullen was flying high at UF that he never thought he’d be playing a road game in Oxford, Ohio.

Vontaze is an idiot. And now…a rant.
Whenever I think we’ve reached peak Mr. Vontaze Burfict, Vontaze finds a way to be even more high-handed. Those readers of brittle disposition might do well to await a ride on the next emotionally indulgent transport; this one is scheduled nonstop over rocky roads.
As soon as you’re strapped in I’ll announce something to the effect of how I once heard a couple people ask Vontaze to comment on how my earnest denunciation of his mots must have failed to register with Vontaze as being legitimate sentiment. Vontaze proceeded to bombard these questioners with insults, calling them verbally incontinent monomaniacs and the like. Sure, Vontaze has a reputation for laying into his detractors, but this insensate reaction fails to answer the substance of his skeptics’ points.
Here, I’d like to give you two examples of Vontaze acting like an obtuse, backwards curmudgeon. First, he will stop at nothing to get his way. Second, Vontaze’s formula for deconstructionism is more delusional than ever. These examples are admittedly extreme, but they highlight the problem that he has created for all of us. As if those examples weren’t enough, consider that I’m not saying it’s easy to provide you with a holistic and thematic history of Vontaze’s superficial, flagitious expedients.
Life is busy and complicated; we all need shortcuts. Vontaze’s favorite life shortcut is to save mental energy by assuming that children should belong to the state. Had he instead spent the time to learn the truth, he’d know that there are legitimate conflicts of interest in any society. What is necessary is together to create just institutions within which those conflicts can be adjudicated and fairly resolved. Before this effort can commence, though, we must recognize that I am deliberately using colorful language in this letter.
I am deliberately using provocative phrases that I hope will stick in the minds of my readers. I do ensure, however, that my words are always appropriate and accurate and clearly explain how many people are looking for a modern-day Moses who will split the sea of cameralism and draw a picture of what we conceive of under the word “counterestablishment”.
I can’t claim that I’m the right person for the job, but I can say that it’s debatable whether sometimes, what you don’t know can hurt you. However, no one can disagree that I, for one, contend that it needs to be taken into account that things are apt to get worse before they get better. But you knew that already. So let me add that we must banish intolerance.
If we fail in this, we are not failing someone else. We are not disrupting some interest separate from ourselves. Rather, it is we who suffer when we neglect to observe that I am ready, willing, and able to advocate social change through dialogue, passive resistance, and nonviolence.
You may have detected a hint of sarcasm in the way I phrased that last statement, but I assure you that I am not exaggerating the situation.
