Heading to the bottom of the 6th tied 3-3. We have had only two hits, the back to back homers in the first, but we have had plenty of baserunners thanks to 7 walks and 1 HBP.
Damn.Tough task now - back to back HRs put OU up 7-3 with one out in bottom of the 6th. Close for six innings.
We are bringing in our 3rd pitcher now, Madilyn Reeves.

Infield single and 3 straight home runs and we are tied 7-7 in the top of the 7th, pitching change for the Sooners. WE got another runner to second but could not get the lead run in.
Single and a homer and we lose 9-7.
Oklahoma had never allowed more than 3 runs in a game this season. They’d only allowed 12 runs in 14 games before today. The last time they allowed 7 runs in a regular season game was February 2022. Lot to be proud of, even without the W.

Just an absolutely outstanding effort by our side today. Oklahoma was hoping for a run rule win to open their brand new palace and easily extend their home streak to 68. Instead they had a white knuckle 7-inning, two run win over our MAC squad.
Kirin is doing a championship job at Miami. I hope we can keep her but this game is going to put her squarely on the radar of many power programs.
Great effort today! It’s too bad we don’t have much pitching. Coming into today, we were #1 in the nation in HRs hit per game and #2 in runs per game, but we were 178th (out of 296) in ERA.

This is one sport where an NIL at a school like ours makes sense even more than it already does. Buy 2 pitchers who are stars and a MAC school could be as good as anyone.

I think our entire staff is new this year. 3 transfer portal girls and then some freshmen. If that is correct, then we might improve a lot as the year progresses. Last year we struggled with pitching most of the year, then just turned the job over to our ace ( 5th or 6th year?) and she pitched pretty much every inning for the last few weeks of the regular season, the MAC tourney, and the NCAA tourney, and we finished one run short of winning our regional.

We’re leading 8-1 over U-La-La in the 4th of game 2. For those unaware, they have been THE premier mid major program in softball over the past couple decades. They’re currently in the others receiving votes category, were as high as #21 earlier this season, and made the super regional last year.
