The excuses are getting dumber and dumber
It might be hard to set a harder rule for this season, but this is easy to fix prospectively. Just tell everyone before next season starts that any non-weather related cancellations will be presumed forfeits and treated as losses for tournament selection purposes.

They need to edit RPI to do what hockey’s NPI does and remove any losses that help the formula and wins that hurt it. That won’t fix this problem entirely but it will help a little

Understood. We discussed that today, but my good friend and colleague is also America’s leading P4 conspiracy theorist. As best I can tell, this was a Tuesday game that in hindsight neither team wanted. Ball U is saving pitching for games that matter to any hope it has for the postseason, and Purdue is trying to game the RPI.
One takeaway I have from this as a guy who follows college baseball basically not at all is that perhaps schools just shouldn’t schedule midweek games in the last couple of weeks of conference play before their league tournaments, even if that leaves them a game or two short of the maximum allowable schedule.

With the NCAA’s vague threat against teams that cancel for RPI reasons, I wouldn’t be shocked if the bubble programs worked with opponents to come up with BS reasons…
