We need a :face_vomiting: response because the :open_mouth: doesn’t quite capture my feelings.

And yet there’s a decent chance none of those schools win the title.

New story. UC at 14-16 million. Pitt 16-18 million. We have been told Miami is in the 8 million dollar range.

What a waste of money

We shouldnt be getting beat by 45 points by Pitt if those numbers are anywhere close to being true

Remember UC game is Saturday. Far as I am concerned, and many others, CM better shows us something with this roster.

Where has the figure of 8-10 million in roster expenditures come from?

There was an article written over the winter about it and Kyle Decker used that figure on a radio show interview as well.

It’s a roster spark made possible by a major funding boost. Sources told CBS Sports that Miami’s 2026 roster cost – which is not finalized – sits in the mid-to-upper seven-figure range, with one source estimating $8-10 million.

From a post a made about the interview:

Interesting tidbits from the Decker radio interview on 700WLW this morning:

He seems to confirm the 8m figure, saying something to the effect of “its amazing to go from 80k to 8m”.

Some crowing from folks associated with the NIL effort in an article that published on CBS Sports’s website last spring.

Relatedly, should I have Duke apply for some cost-efficiency award? Your defending ACC champs reportedly have the second-lowest budget in the ACC – and likely plenty of alums who think that is just a drain of resources away from basketball.

This is a must win for Chuck as the OOC record for years has been a disaster. The OOC play is actually what I love most! Beat UC!

If we were winning, no one would be questioning it. Seeing the Pitt game mess has to be upsetting for sure. This UC game is the answer to fix this.

UC’s huge OL and Miami’s small DL probably means a loss and the Victory Bell being in Clifton forever.

Chuck prove that WRONG

CM had to know we had a weakness on DL. We lost two portal players on DL before/ during Fall camp. We have had problems recruiting / developing / keeping interior DL for years. We have had some good to excellent DE’s - Adam Trick etc but interior DL is a weakness. I would expect UC to run the ball right at us Sat - hopefully our expected strong LB’s will step up - they were largely nonexistant at Pitt

We signed a big DL in the portal from Purdue and originally from Akron who had some all league recognition at Akron - Marcus Moore maybe

He is currently listed on the depth chart as tied for 2nd string

Maybe Chuck’s staff doesnt value NT weight as much as other programs

I am aware of Moore - he is not enough- we seem to have a continuing turnover re interior DL coaches and problems in recruiting and retaining interior DL players - we may see this play out Sat - one of many problems with CM’s program

Neither one of our starting interior DL is over 260-Andrews and Rice. That is small.

Agree. Chuck’s aversion to trying to compete in OOC games has continued to mystify me. Yeah, the MAC titles are great but I really remember the great OOC wins, and in today’s college football world, you don’t have to win a MAC title to go bowling. To generate some enthusiasm in alumni and students, you start winning some OOC games. Just competing would be an upgrade!

I have many fond Miami football memories, and the biggest was being in Baton Rouge in 1986 for our win over #8 LSU. It was magical! Witnessed a number of wins against Northwestern and UC as well. Bottom line: We really need to beat UC!

That was forty years ago. My wardrobe and bank account are a lot better now than when I was a junior. The college football landscape is fundamentally different. Y’all keep harping on this, but nobody seems to take into account that the MAC – as a whole – was 1-25 against P4 opponents last year. Every year, we fixate on the one or two schools that manage to pull it off and somehow think Miami should do that every year. Should Chuck have lucked into one by now? Probably. Should it be an annual expectation? Only if your expectations are stuck in the 1970s and 1980s.

Note I mentioned that just competing would be an upgrade. Winning occasionally would be better of course. We have certainly faced some beatable P4 squads, such as Rutgers last year.
