The 2024-25 season regular season thread

I asked a friend who’s a hockey advisor for his thoughts:

“For me Artemi and Michaud are your standouts. It’s a good foundation class. No real 1st team all league guys but it raises the floor pretty well for a first class and now you just stack on top of it.”

I think it’s very impressive to lure this class into what was a dumpster fire. I’m leaning towards this not being a pure write-off season. I don’t expect the team to rise to the top half or anything like that, but it needs to be competitive all year long. With the foundation of that and this class, there’d really be something to go out and build upon.

This feels pretty fair. I was impressed by Scherzer as well. There’s a huge gap between the top line or two and then the rest. Hopefully, somebody has the firepower to match the seniors that are heading out too. Augmenting that with another transfer might make sense too.

We have Captains!! I repeat we have Captains!!

Curious to see if we start looking at guys in the Canadian leagues now that it’s available. I’ve noticed BGSU has gotten 3 guys from the WHL already

Bonk,
Very well done!

I thought Stupka was announced as a signee a year ago with Berge.

*-alternate captains.

They even took the clip of Silver out of the pregame hype video and replaced it with other players

And just like that into last place

Right where we will finish.

There is hope for the Future with the new staff but for now team totally sucks. Hopefully Noreen can keep his recruits coming in next season and after.

Currently there seems to be a HUGE talent gap between Miami and who they have played this season. That is reflected in the 1-9 record since the 2-0-2 start.

Seems like we can hang with better teams no for short spurts but then they make a run and we can’t recover. A good outcome would be one game improvement over a series. Ie: if we lose the first game 6-2 then maybe the next game is closer. Ideally, we’d win some of those, but some way to show we made adjustments and got better is a fine outcome for year one.

7 1/2 months ago was Noreen’s first day at Miami. (4/1/24).
Expect this to take some time.
He may have found a #1 goalie Sat. He played second half of the the game as Miami’s second goalie in relief and only gave up one goal!

I’m of the same mindset. It will take time. And at least even for small spurts we are hanging with good teams. Eventually you’d think those spurts grow longer. One period becomes two. Two becomes three. Three becomes a win.

@Bonk nice VFTG write up. I saw some improvements Friday night but still a long road ahead. I like that coach is not measuring improvement by W/L.

Hockey team is throwing t-shirts at the football game…hopefully some of the offensive and defensive prowess they see tonight rubs off on them for this weekend😂

Denver loses their first game of the season to Arizona state

He committed to us while he was in the USHL but I guess this means he’s our first recruit in the OHL
