Kind of surprised he found it necessary to include so many bracket Ohios. Unless that was an editor thing….

Hey Eddie, were you and Terence buddies on the Miami Student staff?

Terence was 2 1/2 Sports Editors before me so we didn’t write on the staff together. But I knew him (and was influenced by him) the year before he became Sports Editor.

In 1976, Mike Nemeth was the Sports Editor (later became the Asst. AD at Mississippi State U), and Terence was the Associate (maybe Assistant) Sports Editor.

Multiple times per week, Mike, Terence, myself, and a few others would camp outside of Mike’s door in Scott Hall (He was also an RA), and simply discuss sports for an hour or two. Incredible conversations.

Progression:

1977- Mike Nemeth

1978 - Terence

1979 - Bill Larkman/Joe Garvey

1980 - myself

I might add…We had a hell of a staff. David Hyde (Orlando Sentinel) and Cammy Dierking (retired Cincinnati Channel 12 anchor) were just two persons (freshmen) on the staff.

Gerri Willis (Fox Business News) was a fine copy editor.

One little trivia tidbit…Cammy’s Dad was the first player to foul out of an NBA game in the first quarter! I always enjoyed hearing stories about him because I was a Sixers fan.

Love reading anything Terence writes about, but when it’s Miami, I’m even more hyped.
