Sacramento State applies to FBS

I don’t understand this argument in most cases. Does adding the west coat Big 10 schools help their recruiting? Maybe…..what kid, sitting at home in Sacramento, after watching SAC State and vs Buffalo says, “Hot damn….that is where I want to play”. I think alumni concentration centers do more for out of state recruiting than mid-week games

So who leaves the MAC and when and where do they go?

Who joins or who cares because we’re gone and where do we go?

MAC legends Cam Skattebo and Ryan Coogler.

In a perfect world, I’d love to see Miami and Ohio bolt from the MAC and join the American.

Terrific. Miami and the MAC have become the Pioneer League. Only good thing is football has to travel out west only once every 2-3 years.

For the Sac, enjoy the road trip!

It’s like UCF but dumber. The next thing you’re going to tell me is that someone is gonna let UMass back into the league.

At least UCF had the added benefit of Disney/Universal/SeaWorld for anyone making the trip into a long weekend. Sacramento means you can… go to a Kings game? Visit California’s capitol building?

This is an awful decision and should rightly hasten Miami’s exit from the MAC. What a sad state of affairs that our university is in an athletic conference that is full of member schools that view $1.5 million as a big windfall - one large enough to sacrifice a regional approach and a commitment to all-sports membership. This makes the MAC look desperate and rather pitiful. Miami’s leadership is already planning for a potential new home - let this be a catalyst for that plan to be focused on more intently. We must drive more NIL funds and get the new arena moving forward. Let’s get that big raise for Coach Steele and look to a plan of action to elevate our teams and drive to join the American - that has to be the goal.

Catch the Oaklamento A’s or see the gold rush museum. Drive over to Napa or up to Tahoe.

Love you but I don’t see it the same way re: American. That conference is no better than the MAC. My thought (not popular) is we might need to be in 3 different conferences. One for hockey (already there) a different for hoops (think if you got a Big East invite) and a third for football (landscape makes this sport the hardest to future proof). I would think most of our non revenue would be Big East or MAC in that scenario I outlined. I guess my point is, maybe the idea of football and hoops being forever in the same conference is a dated idea?

The A’s have a fun nucleus! But I hate what Fisher did to the people of Oakland

There is more to a possible move to the American than just short term improvement. A split is going to happen soon in college football - schools like Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, and others will not remain in the top tier - in part by choice. Miami sees a better bridge to join universities like them in a new tier 2 with a launch-point from the American than from the generally disrespected MAC. Stay in the MAC and just wait for being part of tier 3. Plus, revenues are clearly higher in the AAC so that doesn’t hurt.

If the MAC is as desperate for cash as everyone says what would make anyone think they would just divide the $18M between the schools? I would be surprised if each school gets $1M.

What? The school presidents are the ones who vote and pick the terms..the conference office takes a % to operate not make a profit

Give all $1.5 million of the Sac State money to coach Steele, his staff and the players.

I did a trip to Sacramento as a kid. We did a gold rush experience, tour of the capitol building, train museum (which is very cool), and old town. From what I remember it was a nice city

I guess one could say the same thing about playing in the Snoop Bowl. My point is it gives folks exposure to Miami that otherwise wouldn’t know about it. Doubtful Miami does much advertising out west, but I could be wrong.

Sac. St. has deep pockets and is a relatively large universe. Gives the MAC more exposure. I’ve yet to actually hear a well-reasoned argument from anyone why this is so detrimental to Miami and the MAC. Not as if teams are chomping at the bit to join the MAC. And I don’t see other conferences particularly interested in having Miami join.

I certainly hope that everyone claiming Miami and the MAC are desperate for cash, in fact, actually donate money. Obviously not everyone has the ability to donate much, but even a few bucks here or there.
