I can’t be easy to prepare for a 325 pound point-forward. Who is running scout team for that? Or to prepare for a team with such wildly inconsistent play from some key components. And you have to prepare for walk-ons to possibly play meaningful minutes.
On the flip side - ‘drive it and get fouled’ seems like a pretty simple offensive plan to prepare against us.
Sorry, our players are not all D1 players…let’s wait to get Steele’s guys here before we say it’s a failure. This is in response to someone from yesterday or day before. The signees are all having tremendous seasons, more so than any class I can remember in recent history
Might be harder? It will be harder based upon the current trajectory. The Athletic Department has lost alot of staff and shriveled to a raisin. Supporters of the program don’t get anywhere near the contact from the department compared to 3 years ago. Their priorities have changed. The leadership has changed. Don’t hold your breath for a miraculous turnaround.
In the new world of college athletics I don’t know if it any longer possible to make projections 1-2 years out or beyond. The transfer portal has changed everything. You can only rely on what you see in talent for the upcoming year.
A freshman class coming in that looks like it could make you very good in a couple years could turn out to be true but those players transfer out.
At the same time, the transfer portal can turn a woeful future into a great one with a couple of the right players.
You have to hope you have a coaching staff that can adapt as necessary.
I believe Steele and staff have the right stuff but we will find out if that is the case over the next couple of years.
Agreed. I hope for the same, but who knows what 2-3 years down the road produces. If any of our freshman average 13 a game, do they just roll on to the next place? I hope not, but that seems to be the new trend for many places.
I think we’re probably one more high quality transfer away from me thinking we’re a .500 MAC team next year. We’re losing a big asset in Mekhi - and were quite a bit below .500 with him.
