Anyone know how many times this has been done? I know nothing about these awards lol
I think Toledo may have done it recently. I think we have done this in the past…What a resurgence of Miami Athletics. It has made the last year so much more enjoyable. Congratulations to everyone involved, but a big CONGRATULATION to David Saylor. Also, we finally have a University President and a board of Trustees who wanted to make this happen.
I do firmly believe that Miami Alums were so much prouder and so much more involved with Miami in the past when we used to be the top MAC sports school. Rooting for the teams creates a bond that many in the last 25 years simply so not have.

Great award
Somedays when I have enough beer in me, which now is two, I tell the true story about three of my friends and me “stealing “ the all sports trophy from a case in Athens and driving it in the trunk of our car back to Oxford. We had just clinched the top spot by way of our finish in track. I think the statute of limitations has run out by now. BTW, if I live through the night I will be 81 tomorrow.

About 5 years ago I was able to find the historical Reese / Jacoby results. Seems our best run was 83-87.

IIRC, the Jacoby Trophy for overall dominance in women’s sports only began in 1983. If there had been one previously, Miami may well have won it. We did possess the Reese Trophy quite often in the seventies.
