RedHawk Rewind Episode 22 with David Sayler

Includes topics like Miami’s place in college football and the G6, Hiring and Retention strategies, and new arena talk.

I don’t expect any info to be groundbreaking but it’s still a good listen.

Sounds like Sayler is a big advocate for the cook field location

DS did a great job with his vision for where Miami can be in the long term. The matching program is huge for donors!!

This was actually a really good conversation. I think DS has been really good for Miami. Hopefully the synchronization between admin, athletics and academics continues

Agree - excellent interview

The discussion about Millett towards the end needs to be written up by someone in the athletic department, or a like minded student, as a Miami Student op-ed. Once you open up any project to improve Millett, you trip a dozen different code issues where Millett is grandfathered in that you’d have to correct. There isn’t a viable path to just improve Millett that doesn’t have an extraordinary cost. I don’t think many who question why we don’t just fix Millett fully appreciate that.

I know that information has been presented to the trustees, but I do not think the Department has done a good enough job selling the student community, and the Miami/Oxford community at large, on that reality.

When he’s talking about all 3 teams sharing one court for practice and mentions if they get bumped off the main gym, they have to go to the subgym which “sometimes floods”. This wouldn’t fly at a high school.

I loved the DS interview and will probably listen again. A lot of good questions- I probably have 1000 more
