Appears to be real.
Hopefully just fireworks.
Confirmed by the police. Someone set off fireworks inside McGuffey
“Confirmed by the police. Someone set off fireworks inside McGuffey”
Wait. Chuck Martin got fired???
I hope whoever did this was captured on security cameras. One parent on the Miami University Parents FB page said, “this is why the students should be armed.” Before I could respond and tell him what a dumbass he is, he removed it. And I am a gun owner.
Some seem to think it could be related to anti Vivek protests (he has an event at brick today)
Now the cops will review videos around that area and use facial recognition to match up to the students ID
Lol, I get texts like this weekly from UC police.
Edit: I wasn’t trying to poke fun at school shootings. I made my post after it was confirmed that it was fireworks.
Well that makes total sense. Protest at McGuffy for an event at Brick. Idiots.
I feel like it’s more likely it was a dumbass being a dumbass
I once lit a ladyfinger and threw it in a Miami dorm bathroom.
This is what Miami sent to all the students and parents:
Please see below for a message sent to all students, faculty and staff today, 10/15/26 at 4:15 p.m.
At about 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15, the Butler County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting shots fired in or near McGuffey Hall on Miami University’s Oxford campus. Miami University Police Department then also received reports of shots fired from a student in a classroom.
Within a minute, Miami University police officers responded to the scene with officers from the Oxford Police Department and the Butler County Sheriff’s also responding to the area. MUPD sent out an emergency alert to notify the campus of the situation.
While investigating the call, OPD officers spoke to multiple witnesses who indicated that the noise was more consistent with fireworks. There was no evidence of gunfire nor were any injured parties found in the area.
Officers searched the building and surrounding area, identified no threat, cleared the scene, and issued an all clear message via the emergency alert system.
