I said this to Yanks and Jive the other day. He will need to pick it up if we want to the run to continue til the end. He has been very off, and just launching some DEEP threes that aren’t hitting

He only attempted two 3s against Buffalo, but he was 0-6 against Northern and 1-6 against Kent. He does seem to get into “chucking” mode at times. Where as soon as he gets the ball on the perimeter, he just launches, regardless of the situation or where exactly he is in relation to the line. They are often very deep 3 attempts. I think it’s just a case of discipline, as he’s had games this season where he’s shot very well.

He’s struggling and forcing shots to try to shoot his way out of the slump. That doesn’t typically work. If he can get a good match up on a slower big Saturday he needs to get back to going to the basket strong.

Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if he were in his head a bit. It’s pretty obvious there’s a big dropoff from Antoine to him and there’s a lot of pressure to mitigate it with productive minutes. It’s alright when he hits his shots like we saw against UMass, but if he’s slumping he needs to bust his ass on defense and avoid chucking the three unless he has a great shot.

Yes, and if you watch Steele on those early shot clock threes, he is clearly not happy.

One of Marshall’s bigs is 7’4" so I hope he can get around him!!

One thing to note is that there 7’4” center didn’t play in their last game. Not sure of his status.

He rolled an ankle. Not sure of status for tomorrow, but at a minimum his lateral mobility would certainly be compromised somewhat.

He is listed in their game notes as starting. Now whether that holds up who knows. If anything his having a rolled ankle might slow them down as Marshall likes to run, play fast and shoot threes.

Byers has also been in a bit of a shooting slump, but it’s gone largely unnoticed because, unlike Atlason chucking a bunch of bad 3s to try to find his shot again, he’s been blowing by the closeout man and getting to the rim. In the four games prior to the Buffalo game (where the refs weren’t calling any fouls), he was averaging 8.5 free throw attempts per game.

A good listen. I tend to agree that if we beat OU, we are a lock for the NCAA tournament. That said, if we then proceed to bow out of the MAC tourney in the early rounds, I could see the selection committee put us in Dayton.

If, however; we beat OU and make it to the MAC finals and lose to an Akron, I would expect us to maintain our #11 projected seed.

If we go all the way undefeated, we could move up to a #9 or #10 seed.

Hope not a 9 seed.
