Pretty sad the only thing Miami has done in the last 25 years worthy of a list like this is pretty much one of our worst moments.
It’s a Toledo Blade article, so the bottom of the list is heavily biased towards Toledo and BG. You could easily add our 2003 football season to the list.
Kent State golf making the final 8 match play at Riviera in 2012 with Conners, Pendrith and Hughes should also be on the list.
Although he mentioned it, Miami’s 2003 GMAC Bowl rout of Louisville to run their record to 13-1 and a final AP Ranking of #10 should be on the list. Miami’s only loss was on opening day at Iowa, #6 in the AP final poll.
For what it’s worth, I’m pretty sure Miami golf did the same thing in the late 90’s.
Match play started in 2009, but Miami did finish 13th at Nationals in 1998.
intersting. I thought we were one of the last 8 teams Kyle V’s senior year. thanks for the help!
No doubt, but the 2003 football team not being on there is a weird omission.
Writer looks like he’s 16. Who cares. He prolly forgot a lot of stuff. Treadwell beat the 23rd ranked team in the country yet still only won like 4 games all time. Where’s that on the list?
Clearly the author measures the modern era of Miami sports from when ol’ Hoosierhawk stepped foot on campus in Fall 2004. Can’t say I disagree.
That fact that the ‘03 team is only mentioned in passing while referencing NIU’s “good but not elite” Orange Bowl season invalidates the whole article.
I feel like Big Ben getting drafted so high and having the career he did is a big enough MAC moment on its own without even mentioning the 2003 season
And Iowa brought their Big 10 refs.
That still makes me angry (about the B10 refs).
Another MAC highlight that was not on the list was when the MAC had the #1 overall pick in the NFL draft in 2013 with Eric Fisher.
The omission of the 2003 team is particularly galling because it was the best year of MAC football as a whole.
Toledo defeated Pitt. Northern Illinois defeated ranked Alabama and Maryland. Bowling Green defeated a ranked Purdue and lost by 7 to Ohio A&M. Marshall defeated a ranked Kansas State and we won both bowl games we were invited to with Miami and BG beating Louisville and Northwestern respectively.
JHV…. Dam right. We wuz robbed!
Where is the Miami streak in '73, '74, and '75 going 32-1-1 and beating Fla, Ga and S Carolina in Tangerine Bowls? I heard that Florida was so pissed they lost to us they burned the film of the game.
21st Century only!
Oops! Should have read the damn thing and engaged my mind before I stumbled.
