Someone sent this to me my sophomore year, and I declared Coaching as my minor to take this class. I had some interest in coaching after college and thought it would be worth the 8am starts for half a semester in the fall of my senior year.
That year ended up being Charlie’s last class and last season coaching. I assume he knew it was his last year because the class ended up being more memoir and silly stories than basketball philosophy.
It’s one of my favorite Miami memories

I’ve told this story before but when I took the class, Coach Coles mentioned MHT one morning.
“My son-in-law goes on there. He tells me, ‘They said this about you, they said that about you.’ I tell him, ‘Stop going on there. Take care of my daughter, for crying out loud.’”

One of my great regrets of my college years was not taking his class. I am jealous of Chuck and MUHawk.
His class was never much about basketball and was always more about stories and telling jokes. Jermaine taught most of the actual basketball topics that were covered.
