I’m not sure the game was even that close. UConn was moving the ball down the field on the opening drive… but Malcolm McCain (9 tackles, 2 TFL) pulled in an interception to flip momentum for the rest of the game. Miami marched right down the field and David McComb found Lynel Billups-Williams for the opening score. Lazaro Rogers scored in the 2nd quarter and McComb found Carl Jenkins on a beautiful post-out pattern for a score in the 3rd. Miami missed the extra point but that made the score 26-0. UConn scored the next 9 (including a failed 2-point conversion) but never posed much of a threat in its comeback attempt.
McComb finished 24/34 for 229 yards, 2 TDs and one interception (operator error with a poor throw in the zone, so the score should have been even more lopsided). Rodney Nelson led the way with 60 yards on the ground, Cade Yacamelli had 57, and Rogers had 39 and the 2nd quarter score. Billups-Williams had 83 receiving yards. 9 guys caught at least one pass.
