For first place alone in the MAC! Two teams nearly statiscally even. But that makes sense since THE HEAD COACHES ARE BROTHERS!!! Is that wild?? Mom will be there!
Akron has won 6 straight, Miami 8. Akron undefeated at home, Miami has one loss. Akron shoots lots of threes, scores lots of points. Ditto RedHawks. Zips go 8 deep. So does Miami. And their coaches are brothers!
Akron is led by Johnson and Johnson. Nate is the leading scorer at 13 ppg, but Tavari had a big game Tuesday night in a 32 pt. win over Buffalo. Brit James Owonkmo is the leading rebounder for John Groce’s team. Groce is the brother of Travis Steele, Miami’s head coach. Seriously!!
Akron has a pretty sparse list of notable alumni, nor are they known for sexually transmitted diseases. It’s no secret however, the department of polymer science and plastics engineering is the best in the world. So there’s that.
I don’t expect Miami to win this game, I just think Akron is too quick and too active inside. But I will love being wrong and I look forward to being an underdog and playing loose and confident. I’ll be disappointed if we play tight, especially at the beginning. I feel good about these guys playing in front of a big crowd, including DHawk + 1.
I mentioned in another thread, but this the first time we’ve felt the sting of bad luck from the new pod schedule.
We only have 1 game this year against Akron and they get it in their house. Whoever wins will be 1 game up with an unrecoverable tie break, so effectively this game is actually worth 2 wins for whoever wins if these are the #1 and #2 teams in the MAC
Yellow, I found this online, seems like you’re safe for now. Can we call you “Tarty”?
“Several synthetic food dyes remain in use today, each with its own applications and controversies. Yellow 5 (Tartrazine), a lemon-yellow azo dye, is among the most widely used and recognized food colorants. Approved in the U.S., EU, Canada, and beyond, it’s found in dairy products, beverages, desserts candies and more.”
You can call me Chicken Tenders for all I care.
In fact, if I ever decide to go back to exotic dancing, perhaps that will be my stage name.
Ok, now I have a question for you: since you have a good beat on hoops, I want you to name our leading scorer for when we beat Akron. Extra points for the stat line. I say it’s Peter with 24/6/3
Will be interested to see who guards Gray. Cornell transfer. Plays guard, but built like a truck. Aggressive mentality getting to the hole. Veteran who definitely will try to lil’ bro us.
In the spirit of expecting the worst and hoping for the best, I’m fine if Miami suffers their first MAC loss. It’s going to be a big ask to win.
But I do expect to see Miami compete for 40 minutes. Don’t let Akron impose tempo and physicality. Limit turnovers offensively, share the ball, and stay connected defensively. These are things Miami can control, and should. Hopefully enough shots drop to come back home in sole possession of 1st.
