I believe others have commented on this, but to go on the road and overcome the adversity of the last week and this entire Finn issue/distraction says a lot on the character of those that remain on the team and the staff for keeping them focuses. So well done!
That whole game was a microcosm of the season-long roller coaster.
After the two weeks the team had, after going up 17-3 and then finding themselves down 17-20, they could have totally folded.
instead, they responded with 20 unanswered including 4 straight 3 and outs.
Defining moment of the season in my eyes
This team pulled together well over the past week, and that’s a credit to both the coaching staff and the upperclass leadership on the team. Here’s what I noted elsewhere.
Last night was a microcosm of Miami football under Chuck Martin. The defense did enough to keep Miami in the game while Chuck demonstrated admirable but misguided loyalty to his fifth-year backup QB. Then the third-stringer came in and changed the game. Somehow, after losing at OU, losing to Toledo, and losing their starting QB in weird circumstances, Miami is still alive for the MAC title game. If that happens, it will be the third time since 2010 that Miami has made the title game with a backup QB finishing out the season.
As I said when all the Finn stuff broke, if miami can overcome all of this adversity and win the MAC this year, it’ll eclipse what the team overcame in 2023 with Gabbert going down (in my opinion)
Certainly agree - great team effort last night !
