But why watch on ESPN+ when you still have time to get free tickets for Saturday’s DH. All the same promotions we had last year for the DH’s. Men play OU at 3:30.
Ohio is down for the third year in a row at 4-15 (2-7).Coach Bob Bolden has been there since 2013. When he came OU had an immediate transformation and several years ago Bolden became their all time winningest coach. He had many teams make either the WNIT or the NCAA. Won 3 games in the WNIT one year. He has had 7 power conference victories in his years there, including one over Notre Dame. However his last two seasons Ohio went 6-23, 11-19, and this year are 4-15. Beating Miami always makes a season better in Athens, I am sure they will be ready.
OU is 11th in the MAC in points per game and 11th in points per game given up. Their leading scorers are 5-10 SR Kennedi Watkins at 15.7ppg and 5-10 sophomore Bailey Tabeling at 12.2ppg. She leads the team with 42 3’s and 4.7rpg. In their last game vs Ball State 5-10 Anyssa Jones had a career high 25 points. 6-1 Sr Kate Dennis had 12 points.
One unusual thing about Ohio is that they recruit girls between 5-9 and 6-1. That is because they switch everything on defense so they want girls who are capable of guarding both guards and centers. On offense they also play an open post offense so they need girls who can play comfortably at any position.
This is game 102 in the Battle of the Bricks with Miami up 61 to 40 all time. The most favorable stretch of our conference schedule is right now. Back to Back we play the 11th and 12th place teams at home. Need to put it all together now and finish the regular season strong heading into Cleveland.
I should extend my nap so as we might extend our lead. I tuned back in to see some good inside/out movement. Coach sees what everyone else does. Cut down on the inexcusable turnovers.
The Kitties are really bad. I reiterate, the ball is not knocked away, but just not protected . I know I am being hard on our post players, but wow, catch and protect please.
Looking over the stats, it is amazing how poorly OU played and how badly we took apart their offense. They shot 23% on FG’s, 18% on 3’s, 50% on Free throws. They got outrebounded 45-27 and committed 20 to’s. They remarkably were only called for 6 fouls.
Freshman Emily Bratton suffered a bad fall going up for a layup and landing on her back. That would definitely knock the breath out of you. She had to be helped off the court and Coach Box said that x-rays were negative and mentioned (I think) an upcoming MRI, but he was hopeful she would return sometime soon. This was the game she finally got to play without her mask worn for protection after an early season broken nose. She also has missed a game with illness. It has been a very tough freshman year for her. Coach indicated that she had been playing really well in practice and Saturday he was going to play her quite a bit as he thought she was ready to help us. Another unfortunate break for her.
