Not bashing any players from last year but we finished with 3 wins, no conference wins, it can’t get much worse so I’m willing to let the coach try about anything to improve. I get some players and their families are upset they aren’t coming back but the old as somone once told me “we finished last with ya…”
They could’ve called me. I think I’m pretty decent on the grill.
People just bitch about everything. They bitch about NIL and how unfair it is for smaller schools, and Miami tries to do something about it and they bitch about that. They bitch about the team having a terrible record then they bitch about Noreen cutting a bunch of players.
David Deputy goal, its 2-0 Jacks early in the game. Shika is playing but he hasn’t faced a shot yet😅
Former RedHawk D Alex Murray is in the portal, although I’m not sure how he has eligibility left
Maybe because he only played six games as a freshman? I can’t figure this thing out.
Shika went 30-for-31 in a 4-1 win. Muskegon advances to play Youngstown starting this weekend.
I think Muskegon should definitely play Shika.
Question: Are there actually any players departing from the ‘24-25 Miami team that are not landing on a hockey team elsewhere? It’s difficult to track from basic fan standpoint. My expectation would be most who want to play will find a team and with help from Miami.
I created a Miami portal and update it regularly.
2025 Miami transfer portal – View From the Glass
It’s hard to say right now because the CHL is such a huge unknown.
I would expect most to find D-1 jobs but if a ton more CHL players come over they may be squeezed out of roster spots. I don’t think anyone knows for sure at this point.
Thanks,Bonk. The CHL could prove to be an X factor TBD.
As of 4/17, 11 players from last year’s team have entered the portal while only 3 have found a home - turns out it’s the 3 highest rated portal players from our team which shouldn’t be a surprise. Of the remaining I think Vitolins most likely and maybe possibly Dukovak and/or Demsey but these last two guys aren’t getting looks from HE/NCHC/B1G. If they do get picked up, it’ll likely be by some Atlantic Hockey teams looking to round out their rosters once portal season winds down. The problem these guys face isn’t only the incoming CHL kids, it’s that compared to their peers in the portal they are simply not rated very high on the list. A team looking to fill a hole has a lot of options before they get to, say, Frankie or Bruno.
Here’s hoping I’m way off.
Back to lurking.
LURKER,
Well done.Thanks.
Oh, I agree none of the remaining players will go to any of hockey’s big three conferences. I heard one was talking to a Big Ten school but it doesn’t look like that panned out.
Another is expected to go CCHA.
Frankie is an interesting one because he seemed to fade the second half, but he’s a year removed from a major back injury so if I was a CCHA team I’d take a chance on him. He’s a solid energy guy.
Same with Turansky to a lesser degree. There’s some talent there and maybe he’d thrive in the CCHA under a new coach.
Bruno, I don’t know. He’s not big enough and has shown flashes and he’s very athletic but he’s nowhere near consistent enough to overcome his lack of size and lets in too many soft goals. And he hasn’t shown signs of improvement.
I’m guessing a few guys are going to end up at D3. Oswego State has been using a lot of transfer downs the past few years. They had two from Holy Cross and one from Sacred Heart on this year’s roster. The CHL is probably going to increase the flow from D1 to D3.
Seeing CIS (Canadian university) kids are going D-1 also, further shrinking the player pool. Like kids that are 22 and 23 are finishing their last 1-2 years of college in the U.S.
Providence got a couple if I remember right.
Regular season highlights and stats for Miami juniors signees:
Looks like Emmons, Mesenberg, Morrison, Quinn, Donato, Grosek, and Nassen are there
Any coaches?
None that I could tell from what they posted on socials, but maybe they’re camera shy😅
Miami gets freshman forward Ryan Smith from Quinnipiac, he played in 34 games last season
Another tri city Noreen connection
He also played for Noreen on team USA for the U18 Hlinka Gretzky Cup a couple years back
