Wow sign Me up for that!
I’m actually starting to believe some positive change may happen…
If Duke and ECU end up in the same conference I’ll eat a boot
Agree - probably Duke and Stanford would be pushed to power league and I could see Stanford moving with ND if ND forced into conference.
I would however totally love the above imagined ACC if we were in that group.
B1G isn’t taking Florida State, and UVA isn’t going to the SEC.
Agree - I’d see UVa and NC in the Big10 (or 20)
I want to go on the record and state unequivocally, I don’t give a shit what a UC and an OU professor think about Miami moving to another conference. Neither school benefits from it and OU could be left in the cold playing Wittenberg!! ![]()
1. Chesapeake-Carolina (CCC) — 10 Teams (ACC Counterpart)
- Duke, Wake Forest, Appalachian State, James Madison, Old Dominion, Liberty, Coastal Carolina, Charlotte, East Carolina, Delaware
Ohio’s Ridpath is an incompetent fraud.
There may be a new academic conference that rises from the realignment ashes. It will not include all the top schools. UNC and UVA will be elsewhere. It could include Stanford and Cal, although I doubt it. Northwestern stays in the B1G and Vanderbilt in the SEC. Notre Dame remains independent or joins the B1G. I don’t know about Miami (FL). I think the core of the conference will be Navy, Army, Air Force, Duke, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, BC, Rice, Tulane… This is a conference that Miami should aspire to join, although I think it would be a reach given our geography and other factors. It would be an academic alliance as much as it is an athletic conference.
The irony of the Cincy and OU sports profs’ takes being that Cincy has jumped from conference to conference with the frequency of a cheap HAM radio over the past several decades, and OU was just flirting with the Sun Belt last year.
There’s a back story here worth re-telling. David Ridpath was the athletics compliance officer at Marshall during the “mops-for-props” saga that led to their NCAA investigation and basically got thrown under the bus by Bob Pruett, his AD, and his administration. He left Marshall and the “industry” and wound up at Ohio U teaching and researching on college athletics. He does a fair amount of work with the Knight Commission and comes at these issues with the zeal of the converted. While I don’t always agree with his conclusions, I usually take an interest in his point of view and the experiences underlying it. He saw an early, small bit of the college athletics arms race and win-at-all-costs mentality, and he has spent about twenty years now warning other small-ish colleges not to fall into that trap.
I’ll eat 2 boots
Many dumbasses graduate law school and medical school. Meaningless.
This could work as Re: geography, Miami is somewhat central and Wright-Patterson AFB is nearby so USAFA would be big draw. If this was a potential league, I would be totally happy.
