Aveon Smith is undefeated against the Big 10

Gabbert is winless

If we can’t put together something half way effective against the worst P4 team, not sure our ceiling more rhan7-5 or 8-7

An early 13-6 loss to a decent Big 10 team on the road doesn’t kill any dreams. But we’ve got to play better, beat UC and play a respectable game at ND to stay in the hunt.

Looked like it to me. Can’t have that ever.

I’m just glad that Brett made it through the game in one piece

That road to the playoff just hit a concrete barrier…

Our office looked similar to 2021 and 2022 vs 2023.
Unimaginative, basic plays and boring.
Maybe due to our offensive line which did not have a good game.
Notre Dame game may be brutal.

Northwestern is far from the worst P4 team. They aren’t gonna win the conference or anything, but there’s a lot worse out there.

I’m giving Gabbert a C/C+ for this game. Not much help from OL, not much from the run game, few plays by skill guys but a couple bad throws.

And I’ll take Gabbert everyday and twice on Sundays.

UC didn’t play too well against an FCS school

At least we’re not Florida.

That’s about the best thing I can say (or type) right now.

Surprising and disappointing end. Maybe NW turns out to be a very good team and/or MU improves drastically. Not getting into the end zone is alarming for a 6/7/8th? yr QB and reasonably veteran team. Really no home field advantage for NW & seeing peers in MAC and G5 score more vs P4 schs kind of sucks. Plus - tons of eyes on this game because of the setting - could have boosted the exposure of a win - instead we look like an inept O. Ugh

I think my expectations were way too high for this team. Gabbert had some moments but overall wasn’t sharp. O line was incredibly disappointing. Receivers were okay. A few drops. Defense was good enough but lost contain on Wright to often and our coverage was way too soft. Play calling was pretty lack luster as well. I talked myself into us being the G5 rep in the playoffs. That was foolish. The think the guys we lost in the portal were too much to overcome.

Guys, maybe we were all just a tad too optimistic about our squad given the significance of our portal losses on key play makers like Gage and Rashad. We lost that receiver that really stretches the field, and our running game was poor (partly due to poor OL blocking and also due to some uninspired running by Mozee). And Brett wasn’t that sharp, which was understandable. Hard to say if he can fully regain his former prowess.

Something to smile about: Georgia Southern is leading Boise 30-28 late in the 3rd in Statesville.

We arent making the playoff. I wouldnt be surprised if our final record is more like 7-5

Good news

  • we stopped their conventional run
  • cade McDonald
  • from what I could tell not many injuries
  • we never have to play at that stadium again
  • the defense as a whole was pretty good

Bad news

  • i think the play calling was disjointed- a good play - oh lets bring in six new guys
  • special teams was probably a slight negative
  • we lost

Not sure I can manage a smile after watching this game, Dan.

I was most disappointed in the OL.

Pessimism does run deep in the Miami family.

Northwestern was an 8-4 Big 10 team that beat Utah in a bowl their last time out. Their coach was impressive in his first year. They seem to have acquired a talented, experienced dual threat QB from the portal.

We just lost to then by one score.
