Within 20 years, more schools will disappear. A few in the MAC might shutter. Maybe combine (Kentakron University). College landscape is evolving.
@YellowNumber5 According to our modern Dept of Athletics we are already Miami-Ohio. Puke!
Pronounced KENTA-kron
With that name change, their mascot absolutely looks like a transformer which is instantly better than Zippy or that weird flash thing Kent has.
I’m in.
Transformers… more than meets the eye.
And by that, I mean when the teams combine they can shoot for a total of four wins per season instead of their usual two.
Bowledo. And Wright will probably become a graduate/research focused branch of OSU. Shawnee State will (should) get folded into OU in some manner. UC will probably formally merge into what they’ve always been: a branch campus of hell.
=>MAC’s most successful program? The Mallory Cup and MAC Championship hardware in the trophy case say otherwise.

It seems dumb to spend 4 mil to leave the MAC then 2 mil to join the MW
It seems especially questionable considering what the MWC is losing with the teams heading for the Pac-12.
6 million to change conferences is not a lot of money, and it seems likely they’d make that back from a larger TV deal fairly quickly.
They’d be making 2.5 mil from TV compared to 1.2 from the MAC. It would take some time and the future of the MW is a lot more in the air compared to the MAC
Plus they have to split conferences for their other major sports.
Won’t they be in the Horizon for everything else but football?
Either that or Summit I’d guess.
Missouri Valley?
I havent heard Missouri Valley. I have heard Horizon mostly
Someone tell me why we care enough about NIU to have a thread with 118 replies.
More about the future of the MAC than NIU
I just don’t think NIU’s silly decision to move to the MW says anything bad about the MAC. They’re probably just looking for an easier conference to play in….
