Within 20 years, more schools will disappear. A few in the MAC might shutter. Maybe combine (Kentakron University). College landscape is evolving.

Bowledo. And Wright will probably become a graduate/research focused branch of OSU. Shawnee State will (should) get folded into OU in some manner. UC will probably formally merge into what they’ve always been: a branch campus of hell.
=>MAC’s most successful program? The Mallory Cup and MAC Championship hardware in the trophy case say otherwise.

It seems dumb to spend 4 mil to leave the MAC then 2 mil to join the MW
It seems especially questionable considering what the MWC is losing with the teams heading for the Pac-12.

6 million to change conferences is not a lot of money, and it seems likely they’d make that back from a larger TV deal fairly quickly.
They’d be making 2.5 mil from TV compared to 1.2 from the MAC. It would take some time and the future of the MW is a lot more in the air compared to the MAC

I just don’t think NIU’s silly decision to move to the MW says anything bad about the MAC. They’re probably just looking for an easier conference to play in….
