New volleyball coach

Announced today. Looks like there will be a formal introduction / press conference on Thursday Feb 8.

GWITT NAMED MIAMI VOLLEYBALL HEAD COACH
Miami University Director of Athletics David Sayler has announced Dan Gwitt as the fifth head coach in Miami Volleyball history. Gwitt, who began his coaching journey in 2007, comes to Oxford after serving the past two years as an assistant coach at Penn State, his alma mater. Gwitt was part of back-to-back trips to the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2022 and 2023 and helped sign a top-10 recruiting class in each of his two years on Penn State’s staff. The Nittany Lions produced a total of seven All-Big Ten players and two AVCA All-Americans during Gwitt’s tenure, finishing with a win-loss record of 49-17

Big shoes to fill but seems like a good hire. Something tells me he won’t coach here for 40 years like his predecessor but hey I’ve been wrong before, in that case see you all in 2064.

Anyone coming out of the Penn State program is a great hire IMO.

Given his creds, this could be a very quick rebuild. Excited to see it.

There is a really exciting update on our volleyball team and the progress they have made since Coach Gwitt was signed. Among other things, he says we are already two years ahead of where he expected to be. MuRedHawks.com
