It’s official now. Only 9 hr drive from DeKalb IL to Fargo. Hope MAC does not fall for the Sac St. offer.
WKU, MTSU, Delaware all should be before Sacramento State. Probably others as well, like Illinois State. And let’s be honest, adding Sac State will do nothing as far as increasing media exposure or increasing dollars on a TV deal.

You people miss the obvious. We have Ball State. We must get Sac State. It’s kismet. It must happen. They will be natural rivals separated by timezones but otherwise fully united.

I live a few minutes from a Big Sky school and am married to an alum of another Big Sky school … and Sac State is well know to be an absolute joke. If they can dupe the MAC to give them their FBS ticket, shame on us.
NDSU sees what we all see … but their money is on “need to be there to be part of whatever the future split looks like.”
I don’t think the other FCS powers (outside maybe Tarleton) agree. There will be a place for the Montana schools, SDSU (maybe even the other Dakotas), and Illinois State (stretch argument for SIU). NDSU has strangely had attendance issues of late, so there’s rumblings of fan boredom. Nothing like a Dec 14 bowl game in Boise on the Ocho to rally the troops …
Does football currently fly for UMass and Buffalo away games? As someone who is nostalgic for when conferences were geographic like minded schools, sure its silly, but its one away game every few years.
We need every dollar we can get for football. If we can wring that money out of some random school in California, I’m all for it. We have NIL to pay.
They need the MAC. The MAC doesn’t need them. Make them give us an offer we can’t refuse.
Perhaps watching the Bison routinely beat visitors by forty gets a bit humdrum. Certainly not as exciting as the Cher farewell tour, which I swear I saw advertised on Fargo TV three straight summers when we were up at the cabin.

Football has flown to Buffalo for at least some games in the past so I’d assume they definitely fly to UMass and likely both.
I think it’s dumb to sign up to an indefinite partnership with a school that will be a large travel expense for <1 million, especially when the leadership at the school has been pretty stupid in their comments/actions. If it was Missouri St or Delaware, I’d take the deal in a heartbeat.

I agree not worth it for the 800k to 1m figure. A couple travel games and you’ve eaten a lot of that.
Now if we start talking multiple millions, we have to at least listen to that pitch.
Who knows if the MAC will even exist in its current form in 5 years when the big conference tv deals remake college football so I don’t think we need to pretend them joining would be a long term marriage.
That one goes in the Yellow HOF!

If Sac St comes to the MAC, I think we should end the ‘Red Bird Rivalry’ in favor of a better named challenged for the Ball Sac St Showdown…please share your best and worst recommendations for the testicular event
